Best local hiking/biking trail? Hiking: Cheyenne Canon - we start on Columbine trail then climb the ridge.  Biking: probably Palmer trail off High Drive for mountain biking; The westside around Cheyenne Canon and the zoo for road biking, with a loop to Garden of the Gods.

Well that pretty much sums it up, you're awesome. Sonterra is my favorite, for happy hour and/or dinner. We usually hike Section 16, Waldo Canyon or Stanley Canyon, and we're thinking about getting bikes. I've heard Crested Butte is gorgeous.

Oh, Section 16 is another favorite,  but it gets real icy in the winter.  DH was riding down that trail 2 weeks before our wedding and went over the handlebars - landed on a rock and broke his helmet.  Not a scratch on him, though, just the caved-in helmet.

ETA: We had our rehearsal dinner at Sonterra.

COKristi - Springs being Colorado Springs? (Dumb question, I'm sure, but I'm not horribly familiar with Colorado) FI's family is from there =)

LesPaul - Are you a guitar player, or is your screen name about something else?

We usually take visitors to Manitou (ending w/ margaritas at the Loop), GOG, and the Air Force Academy. Sometimes hiking depending on who it is.

We hiked the Incline one time this year, it was a good workout but really crowded.

NO SNOW in September (I hope). It snowed during our wedding reception on May 1st.

I wouldn't hold your breath on the streetlights, I think our city is going to be pretty broke for awhile.

ETA: forgot to answer the incline question

  • Anysunrise, yes CO Springs! Have you ever been here?

LesPaul, that is so scary about your H going over the handlebars!! We hiked it right before our wedding and it was still really snowy/icy. It was more rock climbing/ice skating than hiking. I thought I was going to go down the aisle in a wheelchair. I am so amazed that people bike those trails, it seems so hard!

  • Yes, Colorado Springs.  I believe COkristi and I both live here.

It's actually my maiden name; I often go by Les rather than Leslie.  I don't think my parents named me after the guitar dude - I didn't even know who Les Paul was until I was in high school.  When I created my account on TK I didn't know about the boards, or I would have chosen something more interesting.

J&K - Crested Butte is a fantastic little town.  Love it.

LesPaul I am so jealous of your RD at Sonterra. Now I want a steak quesadilla with blue cheese sauce. We had ours at the AFA and Slayton's catered. It was good but it's no Sonterra.

My friend was visiting me at college and she was wearing a t-shirt that said Crested Butte across the chest as we walked through my dorm after coming back late Saturday night to go to the bathroom and get ready for bed.  A random drunk guy stumbled up to us and said "OH MY GOD DOES YOUR SHIRT SAY RUSTED BUTT?!" because the C and the E were hard to see because of the way the shirt fit her.
