I judge...

Re: I judge...

  • I'm totally judging this girl on my FB. I met her on vacation when we were teenagers so we're friends online but we haven't spoken in 15 years and don't know each other. Anyways, she's super duper rich, like her dad owns half of Orange County and she's been on two different tv shows. She posted engagement photos and they look like a Vogue shoot. They're wearing designer gowns/ suits standing on rock cliffs with stone cold serious faces. No hugging, laughing, smiling, kissing, just like empty models. What's the freakin point in that?!

It hasn't been that hot this summer, but normally it's torturous. The humidity is really what gets me. It was only in the 70s the other day but we had the AC on because it was SO muggy I felt like I couldn't breathe.

And nobody wants to see the Queen of the Mushroom People hairdo I wind up with if I let my hair air-dry! I braided it today because I gave zero fucks, but normally I need to dry it.
I want to add that in Michigan, it's only truely hot in the very bottom section. I lived up north almost my whole life, and I never knew anyone with A/C unless they were also super rich. Not even all the stores had it. I moved downstate to where LOLO is and it's a necessity. It's very muggy here, which is why A/C is nice. The a/c takes out the humidity so life is bearable.

  • I judge women who take pictures of their feet at tue beach or by the pool and scream "eeek it's summer!"

I also judge every person on my FB feed that posts how excited they are for hoodies, bonfires and pumpkin flavored everything in the fall. And it's been unseasonably cool her in MA the last few weeks so it's already started. I love fall too but they post the same thing every damn year.

And I second the Judging "every kid gets a trophy"
Mentality. Drives me nuts. IMO that puts kids on the road to not learning they need to work hard for success and being big softies.

Bolded: YES. Only because I live in central Alabama where it is NOT cool enough for hoodies and bonfires until friggin January. And that's not fall, that's the dead of winter. I want to comment on every one of their posts saying, "Wear your hoodie and go to your bonfire alone because it's Alabama and it's still 80 degrees in October"

    Maybe I'm just bitter haha

    @lulu411‌ you're not bitter. You're realistic. Lol

To add to that... I judge the people who complain about winter in New England. Don't like it? Move!!

    I'm very judgy today.

Today I'm judging myself for dropping peanut butter on my white pants and I haven't even been at work an hour yet.
  • Ha, I love the weather ones! This is a generalization of course, but I think the entire south collectively judges the north for freaking out over 85-degree heatwaves, and the north collectively judges us for our utter inability to deal with winter. (Snowpocalypse, anyone?)

I judge my FSIL for constantly judging me for everything. And also for being a SAHM who is just "so busy!" all the time. Lady, my mom works full time, is finishing her second masters, and still has a kid at home who is very highly involved in sports. Tell me again about how busy you are?

Also, just because we don't live in a McMansion and drive $80k cars doesn't mean we're in the poorhouse, mmmmkay??

.. but what would we have to complain about?!

Just kidding, I love winter (I love all of the seasons, but apparently I'm a weirdo because of that) and I would really like people to just STFU about it being winter. I get it once in a while, but the other day it was 62 and people were already complaining- IF IT STARTS NOW THE COMPLAINING WON'T STOP UNTIL APRIL.

  • This thread made me LOL this morning, thanks ladies!

    - I judge the two women who were DRUNK on the subway this morning, loudly singing and playing music from their phones. Nobody wants to hear that.

    - I have the coupon friends on FB- they always buy tons of crap I can't fathom ever using then break down, in detail, the types of coupons they used. Unless you live in their city, you probably don't have access to all the same coupons! (extremely local chain stores)

    - I judge people who RSVP to weddings and just don't show up- my wedding a month ago had a few no-shows. They told my parents "they forgot" wtf, dude? I didn't FORGET to pay for your dinner.

    - I judge all the people pitching Beach Body and Jamberry Nails on my FB feed. I get it. You work out from home and have fabulous, long-lasting manicures. Good for you. I don't need to see it every day.

I judged that when I WAS a kid! I think we can, as a society, agree that instilling self-worth in our children (especially our girls) is important without resorting to the kind of "band-aid self-esteem" that is Trophies-for-Everyone. Winning means nothing if everyone wins, which in turn makes people less interested in trying hard. Can you imagine "everyone gets an A"? Ridiculous. Recipe for kids who value themselves without believing the world revolves around them: Praise them when they work hard or succeed at something, and encourage them when they fall down. Discourage unhealthy comparisons with others. And love them regardless of their performance. Ta-da!

@lolo883 There are practically no houses here in MA with A/C. Out of my 100 family members and friends, I can think of exactly 3 houses that have it, and they are the rich uncles in million dollar homes.

We never even hit 90 degrees this summer (it was steady around 80) and we're already going down into the 50's/ 60's. I can't imagine it's any hotter in MI since you're on the same latitude. What the hell you doing blow drying in summer?! We don't bother with that nonsense lol.

I was going to comment and say the same thing. It's just not really necessary here, and central air is only in newer construction. It's needed for only a few weeks of the summer, and usually window units work fine. My friend bought a brand new house last summer and even that didn't come with central air. It was an upgrade.

My townhouse has central air, it was built in 2008. And our apartment before that did too (built in 2006). We're spoiled, and I actually had to get up last night and turn the AC off. I need to get in the habit of opening windows.

Also, I blow-dry my hair in the summer. Usually I just let it partially air dry on the way to work if I shower int he morning, but if I'm going out, it's blow dried.

My house has central AC! It's certainly not a million dollar home, but it is pretty new compared to the other houses in the area. Many of the houses were built in the 1920-1960s so they never had AC.

My house was built in the late 80s and I think the people that owned it before us renovated it and added central air.

  • I'm judging my DH right now. I made it a point to tell hhim last night that I needed extra help with things this morning. My blood pressure always drops the first day I'm home. I asked him to help me with breakfast and make sure I don't do more than I should.

This morning, I am the one who got up to feed the cats. Then, when we got up for good, he made himself coffee and then sat down to browse the interwebs. All without asking me if I needed anything :-/

  • I judge people who say "good morning, how are you?" and then walk out of the room before anyone says anything.. And just generally people who ask "how are you" and don't give a shit about the response.

I also judge people who respond to "good morning, how are you?" with "well, it's Thursday!" or some other vanilla rendition thereof. What? What does that even mean? So you're good? Or things are terrible?

I judge people who leave their carts out in the middle of the parking lot when there are multiple cart corrals in every single aisle. No, pushing your cart in the middle of a group of cars is not a good solution. Lazy asshole.

I judge Comcast for taking full advantage of their monopoly and charging $70/month for internet. No cable. Just internet.

I judge people who leave bits of toilet paper all over the bathroom floor. Did you bring your mom into the stall with you? No? Then pick up the shit you drop on the floor.

They probably enjoy the region because of the other 3 seasons.

Look, I hate winter on the east coast/north east because it's so fucking long and dreary and there is no damn sun, just grey, grey, dead, grey- at least where I am. But there is no way in hell I'd move South into nasty humidity, hurricanes, and flooding, or West into Tornadoes, super hot dry climates, droughts, wild fires, mud slides, etc.

I like this region for everything except winter, which I can tolerate for a few months and then I'm over it.

1060? Wow that is old. ;)

Live in AZ now, all houses had AC. Lived in Northern Idaho and CO and Bay area California. Always in apartments, never had AC.
Lived in Oregon, had AC everywhere I lived, but FIs family never had AC. FI's friends didn't either.

    Haha!

A lot of the houses around where I live were built in the 1800's-early 1900's so no insulation and no central air. Window AC units FTW!

Yeah, I went there. Deal with it, ppl. Have the kids gone back to school? Yes? Then it's time for Fall.

Would you believe it was cheaper for us to get a triple bundle with Verizon than just getting cable and internet? WTF?! I don't need a land line.

I really, really hope the companies that want to offer a la cart cable channel service can win the legal battles that the cable companies are waging against them for fear of competition. >< I want to pick and choose my channels. . . I don't need HSN or Lifetime!

Kids aren't back yet where I live! Though they do go back before Labor Day this year, which is kind of odd considering how early Labor Day is this year.

I judge the stupidity of the schools for having kids start right before Labor Day. . . push the start of the school year back until after Labor Day. It's obnoxious to go to school for a day or two, then have a 3 day weekend.

Why in the hell do the schools do this? Teacher contracts? Ugh.

This. I judge everyone who uses the toilet and doesn't wash their hands. You're all the reason I keep getting sick!!! It was brutal in Europe. I'd say half of the people I encountered in bathrooms there flushed and walked out.

  • Verizon was cheaper with a landline for us too. Not by much, but might as well get it then.

When it happens for us, it's cos of the number of days we're required to teach the kids (government regs). We don't teach past June 30th, so if that extra day or two before Labour day is going to push us into July, we go back in August instead. Normally it's only when Labour day is later in Sept though. But up here, it's regulated by the government, not teacher contracts. Our contracts have to follow those regs.

I'm going to have to look into this!

DH was a pilot tester person (whatever they're called) for Aereo so we were getting awesome channels for a while. But then Aereo lost in court. We have a Roku which is sweet. We don't really watch that much TV, so it's no biggie. I just don't want to pay an arm and leg for internet!
