Re: Asking a friend to be an Usher instead of a Groomsmen

  • For those of you with waffle makers, is it actually worth it? What's a good brand that's easy to clean? Those suckers can get nasty..

    Honestly, how many times a year do you truly use it?
    I have the Cuisinart Griddler with the add-on waffle plates. I LOVE it. You can use it as a panini press or open it up to use as a grill. The normal plates are grill-y on one side and flat on the other. All the plates can go right in the dishwasher.

    @simky906 thanks for the tip! I'm still waiting to get my dang Star Rewards.

    This is what we put on our registry and we bought the waffle plates ourselves (but haven't used them yet, boo).

    You want to find something with removable plates so that you can clean them good.

  • So what's the deal with the chair tassel references?
    Everyone in the wedding gets a special flower and tassel at their seat at the head table. And she'd have to pay for ANOTHER tassel. Sorry, two more tassels. And she just doesn't have that kind of tassel budget. I mean, maybe you do, maybe your tassel budget is just unlimited, but some people got a real tight tassel budget.

    I'm having a lot of fun saying the word tassel.
    What in the actual f. . . I just can't right now.  It's too damn early and I'm too sick of dealing with my own stupid wedding right now.

  • @lolo883 Happy to help! Not that I have a little bit of a Macy's obsession or anything!

    And my registry lady told me that the star rewards take about six to eight weeks after your wedding to arrive so you've probably still got a little bit of a wait on that.

    Sorry! Don't shoot the messenger!
  • At the supermarket tonight I saw packaged toaster waffles that don't need to be refrigerated, sort of like bread, I guess. Score!
    They used to have ones like that at costco. Oh my god they were so good, giant vanilla toaster belgian waffles.

    I think this is what I need. Anything that can get clean in the dishwasher is a friend of mine. :)

  • @Simky906 Thanks for the tips! I heart Macy's, wish the registry trick worked on suits, we are about to buy DH another suit because he liked the one he wore in our wedding so much.

    @beethery - Isn't Costco the best? I'm now going to be looking for those until I can secure a waffle maker.

    @lolo83 - Thanks for the recommendation :)

    Either way, waffles are happening this weekend!!

    @kasmith1 You're welcome! And I know the registry discount doesn't work on suits, but we had a 25% off coupon for men's suits in the welcome packet they gave us when we registered (I saved mine because it also had a free Shutterfly photobook coupon and I'm a sucker for those). If you don't still have yours you could check with the registry folks and see if they can give you an extra?

    My registry lady reminded me about those yesterday because I stopped in for her to submit my bonus wine glass and was going shopping for a new dress shirt for DH.

    Not to turn this into a Macy's lovefest thread but their bonuses are awesome!

  • @Simky906 Oh, I got that Shutterfly book immediately! It was our guest book. Turned out great. If you are on Wedding Wire, and review 2 vendors, you get another free 8x8 book.

    I still have that packet, hopefully. I do have a bunch of coupons they just sent me though. And I'd rather read a Macy's/waffle love fest than a girl telling her FI he can't have more than FOUR GM anyday!

    Too bad @JennyColada is on her honeymoon and can't magically turn this into a thread about pankcakes.

    @kasmith1 omg lololololol I die.
