I am always excited for my friends that are having girls because I get to buy them cute little girl things. I, however, am hoping for all boys. As random as it is, I was definitely more attracted to my BF when I found out the men in his family have had ALL SONS. I mean, the guys choose the gender, so the fact that all of the men in his family keep producing male offspring made me extremely happy. I believe I have a very high probability of getting what I want (not saying I wouldn't be ecstatic about a little girl), and I will want to know the gender as early as possible. Haha!

I feel totally fine saying all of this now because having children is still 4-5 years out for me. Who knows what will change by then.

@AlPacina All I want to say is that my dad had all brothers, and his father had all brothers, and HIS father had all brothers....and then my dad goes and has three girls.

I wish I had a good one-liner response to this but I honestly just had a conversation with him about the fact that I was bearing the child, going through the emotional upswings/worry/stress in a far different way than he would be able to relate to (even though he would try and have his own stress/worry too), gaining the weight and, probably most difficult, loosing in many ways my sense of "self" temporarily to have this child and fully devote my life to her. Because of that, I really needed all of the bonds with the child I could get and all of the fun and celebratory parts I could have. I tried to say that as nicely as possible obviously but he got it. He knows what I'm going through is completely different than what he has to go through and wants me to have this bond that I wanted before the birth with our child. I can say his bond with her has strengthened tenfold since finding out the sex too.

@jenna8984 - I totally agree that the gender could be anti-climactic after all that. My mom said the same thing about having my sister. After being in labor and all the pushing and stuff they both forgot to ask what it was!
I also want a very gender specific nursery. I told H if we don't find out then we have to buy decorations and paint for both and have someone on call to get the nursery done up while we are in the hospital. He agreed so that is our compromise for now, until we actually get pregnant.

I have a feeling we are going to have all girls. I had a strong feeling that Callie was a girl before even finding out and we definitely want to have another baby and if that baby ends up being a girl then our plan is to try for a third in hopes of having a boy. DH is going to be surrounded by women 4 LYFE!

@jenjen047 is there anything consistent in the family? For example in Matt's family - dad's side - they haven't been able to create a female in so long they can't remember the last natural born, so I would want to know.
Also you could have fun and host a gender reveal party. I am all about doing that, it seems like fun and that way you find out in an interesting way

@AlPacina Well my dad's brothers all had daughters too (and sons). Who knows...he said he walked through some scary shit while he was in the Army so you never know!

@misskittydanger - His side is heavier on the boys: his dad is 1 of 6 and they are split 4 boys and 2 girls. H is 1 of 3 boys and one of H's brothers has 1 kid who is also a boy. Neither of us are fans of gender reveal parties, so that won't work to convince him.

Oh well, it's a conversation years down the road.

@speakeasy14 I agree with you re: women getting bashed for not wanting to vote for Hillary. Choosing who to vote for based on gender is so stupid. However, I REALLY wish some of the Bernie supporters would pipe the eff down with all the Hillary negativity. It's getting really sexist and terrible in some cases, and I don't see how all the fighting helps the party at all. Can't people select their favorite and give reasons why rather than tearing down the other candidate? I don't mind facts, but I hate the pointless opinion arguing. I recall (and could be wrong) Bernie even telling people to chill about it.

Re: Finding out the baby's sex... I think I'd want to know. It probably wouldn't change my decorating at all, but it would be nice to be able to pick a name and a couple cute boy or girl specific outfits. I always have imagined myself having a girl, but BF has 3 brothers and his only brother that has a child had a son, so lots of boys on his side. My side is mostly girls. I guess we will find out eventually. Still have a few years (hopefully) before that would come up.

Sidenote: I got the Molten Chocolate Latte at Starbucks. It tastes like hot chocolate. I'm not mad about it. Mmmmm.

@labro - I know, like, FIVE BILLION people that own them. I've never needed my own so far. I think I had my parents' copies for a good two years before I gave them back, haha.
