I have the job I'm at during the summer permanently if I want it.  Plus H has a good job, so it's not like we'd be stuck if I don't get a teaching job next fall.

This is what scares me about FI's career plan.  He is going to school to be a high school history teacher and I'm afaid he will struggle finding a job.  He could graduate in December with his degree in American History and apply to work at a museum or something but if he does that then his financial aid as a first time undergraduate student goes away.  We keep going back and forth.

That's right, I forgot you were in the teaching field too. What do you teach?
And oh man your wedding is next weekend already! How are you feeling???

I have interviewed a ton of applicants in the last month or so who have teaching degrees and can't find teaching jobs.  There isn't a lot available, as I understand it.

I'm frustrated with work and really glad I'll have next week off (mostly, I'll still work some while on vacation).  The full moon is next week and we seem to be feeling the effects early on.

I'm certified K-8 but definitely prefer K-4.  Currently applying all over the place.

I am in total shock that our wedding is already here.  We had a two year engagement but it feels like it went by SO fast.  I don't think it has really hit me yet but I'm doing well so far!

I'm not really that worried about it. I just want to be insured in case anything happened (pregnancy related or not).

Blue, the individual mandate with the health care bill, allows for people 21-26 to remain on their parents insurance. We'll hopefully see tomorrow if the SC has decided to rule for or against the mandate.
ETA: good ol wild bill clinton is out crying it'll be the end of the world if it happens, so maybe we'll get to see him cry some more. that'll be something new and different.

But I thought the child had to live with you and be registered in a college? My son is 3 hours away from me, as his mom I would keep him on my insurance if I could, just to be sure he's covered. But legally I cant.

Holy fucking shitballs, guys.  My dad got a motorcycle.  It's an enormous silver Harley.  WTF.  He's talked about getting one for literally... years... and my mom was always like "NO" or "not til I get my boat."  They got a boat a few years ago.  I don't know when he's going to ride this thing, since he farms, but holy wow.

Aaaaaand now I'm all nervous about him driving it.  Eff my life.

Does it depend on where you live?  My fiance and I graduated a year ago and will still be on our parents' insurance until we are married.

Edie, the meatballs I made the other night aren't too complicated (I don't think) and we are eating those leftovers tonight.  I could give you that recipe if you want.

Tomorrow night I'm making penne cardinale, which I also think is kinda easy, but it does have a lot of ingredients.

Morning! I would be terrified to leave my BC to NFP, but then again we are not wanting kids, ever. And I feel really whiny sometimes talking about my job benefits, because they are awesome compared to a lot of work places, but we have gone from no deductable to 750 deductable in the last couple years, which sucks.

Edie- I am making THIS tonight, but not sure if that will help you since it is recommended to marinate for a day.

I'm just doing a pasta with vodka sauce and eggplant. It is brainless and the eggplant comes frozen at Trader Joes, so it's already prepped, just needs to be thrown in the oven. I needed a quick dinner since I need to go out and by pasta salad ingredients for a work potluck on Friday. There are a million pasta salads and I can't decide what one to make.

For dinner I'm having chips and salsa. It's too hot to cook and H is gone. I did make a yummy chicken cordon bleu pizza on monday night, though. Last night was brats and corn on the cob. I'm hoping Sunday I can make something new and "exciting" again, maybe those mozz stuffed meatballs I've been seeing on Pinterest.

I am excited to try it. I ended up buying chicken legs, and chicken breasts on the bone so we would have white and dark meat, instead of all dark.

Her blog is good because she shows you step-by-step pictures!

Also when I made them last I modified the recipe a bit - I did 3/4 cup milk instead of one whole cup and then added a slightly beaten egg.  The meatballs were easier to form that way.

Edie-  I'll give you my meatball recipe also.

    I do:
1 lb or beef OR ground turkey
1/4 cup of Italian Breadcrumbs (GV brand at Walmart)
    1 egg
    Italian Seasoning to taste
    Garlic Powder to taste
    Onion Powder to taste
    Salt and Pepper to taste
(I usually just sprinkle a little of each)

Mix in bowl.  Heat a pan with a very light coating of oil on Medium until warm.  Roll mixture into equal size balls and put in pan. Cover and cook approx 3-4 minutes (or until brown) before turning over.  Cook 3-4 minutes (or until brown) before adding sauce. Simmer with sauce 1/2 way up the meatballs for about 10 minutes covered.

The outside gets a little crispy from the oil but it's a small enough amount that it doesn't make that or the sauce greasy.

I was a consultant for over 5 years, at the same company that I work for now. The perks of being a consultant were awesome, but honestly the main factor in me agreeing to work directly for the company was the insurance. A family plan at the consulting place would have been $920/month.

Might be, more likely it has to do with your employers insurance. Similar to some allow domestic partnership, others dont.

Our insurance is through H.  A family plan is $1500 (for us and any future kids).  Luckily H's boss pays a good chunk of it, but he doesnt have to.

ETA: Before I was married I was paying $575 a month for my insurance.  I live in a state where we have to have it and it was 100% OOP

I didn't have to live withmy dad when I was a student, and his insurance covered me up to age 23. My brother was on his insurance too and lived in a different city.

AATB, my stepdad isn't allowed to have a motorcycle anymore after his accident. My dad used to have one when he went through his ridiculous biker phase. I'm glad he got rid of it. I still have nightmares about seeing the pics of him and his biiiitch ex-wife riding down Main Street during Bike Week with her assless chaps.

Dinner tonight is spaghetti and meatballs. BUT I can finally go to the store today (hopefully) because for once, there isn't a monsoon happening outside. Hopefully that doesn't change.
