[QUOTE]Blue, that's awful. I can't imagine paying for insurance what we pay for our vehicles a month.

I will never complain about the cost of my insurance.  They cover 100% of my fertility treatments.

I think I have paid in co-pays for all of this stuff (and remember, 3 IUI's, 1 IVF including an egg retrieval, 2 D&C's, 3 Hysteroscopy surgeries, an HSG, 3 rounds of genetic testing, medications, hundreds of blood draws, tons of ultrasounds, and so much more), maybe around 2K.  And of that 2K, most of it was co-pays for the meds since I have to use a specialty pharmacy so co-pays are $30 per medication and I take 3-4 meds each cycle.

This reminds me that I have to see how much it will be to add FH to my insurance this Fall. I am worried that if it is too much he won't to pay it and will prefer to go without insurance. This is not something I would be happy about, at all. Luckily I am pretty sure that we have a seperate option to just add a spouse rather than making a family plan.My benefits are pretty great, they cover most of my insurance.

Honestly because of direct deposit I don't even know how much comes out of my paycheck each week for insurance.

Dont forget though, insurance premiums are higher where COL is higher.  Plus, since we are required to have it and insurance companies can charge whatever they want, we dont have much of a choice, lol.

Yeah Sesh - my dad has always talked about getting one but I really didn't think he would.  He and his brothers grew up riding around the farm on bikes and three wheelers and stuff, but still.  I am always hearing stories of middle aged men getting motorcycles and having accidents.  And my dad... well.  Being a farmer he's had A LOT of close calls, a few of which I've recounted here.  Throw a motorcycle into the mix?  Just doesn't make me feel good.

He never wears a seat belt so I doubt he'll wear a helmet.

I get that, but I'd still complain a little just because I'm cheap.

Hell my medical bills this year will probably make up for all of the years that I had insurance and didn't go to the dr for anything, but it still feels like it's such a big monthly expense. (and I'll add that I think I only pay around $400ish a month for a family plan so really it's not that bad)

1 IVF cycle at my place would be close to 20K.  But if you are OOP, and dont get a live baby at the end, they refund you 75%.

But its rare to find people here without IF coverage because MA is one of only a few states that require insurance carriers to cover IF.

I was filling out an application for FI to get a private policy because it is around 1/3 of the cost than to go with me and one of the questions is "Have you or your spouse been diagnosed with infertility".

How do I answer this for him?  I am not technically his spouse YET, but in 18 days I will be and I have been diagnosed with that.

    Thoughts?

AATB, I have mixed feelings about motorcycles and I always get anxious when I know my parents are riding. On one hand, I love to ride and it's fun, but on the other hand, it is very dangerous. One of my dad's friends just died last Friday in an accident on his bike.

Usually, it's not the biker that causes accidents, it's the other drivers who don't pay attention.

This is complicated, so bare with my novel :)

I have tubes and ovaries, but they are not in the typical positions that would be found in most women.  I do not have a uterus at all.

When I was finding out about this, I was 15 and spent about a year meeting with different doctors and fertility specialists to figure out why I wasn't getting my period. I was on a heavy hormone therapy cycle so they know I ovulate.  It took a surgery for them to go in and look to find out.

In September, I was experiencing some symptoms (weight gain, tenderness in my chest, smell aversion, sickness, etc..) and nearly passed out at the gym.  Though I was convinced it couldn't happen, I took a pregnancy test at the urging of my personal trainer and it was positive.  I went through some tests (weird day- had several ultrasounds, saw my OBGYN, etc..) and they were all pretty baffled by what they were seeing. They confirmed that there was a pregnancy but without me having a uterus, we would be in for a long road. They estimated 8-10 weeks. They sent me for blood work.  Of course we went home and while we were scared we were over the moon excited. I didn't think I could ever do this.  They called the next day with blood work results and it wasn't considered viable. I was devastated.  Everything after that was completely natural, it all happened pretty fast.  It was about two weeks after when we got engaged.

    Sorry for the sob story.

Jesus Christ.  How can you be pregnant without a uterus??  It would have had to have been in the tubes and that could have been really bad.

I think for the insurance purposes, you should tell them no.  Your condition doesnt mean you are automatically "infertile", even though you have no uterus.  So its really none of their business.  With ovaries and tubes, you could do IVF with a surrogate so you do have working parts.

I would tell them no since you have not TTC.
