I am feeling judgemental

Re: I am feeling judgemental

  • LP, that is absolutely ridiculous.  I am slightly claustrophobic and would definitely FREAK in that situation.
  • I thought they did an excellent job casting the movie. Even though I had my own preferences, it was cool seeing their version on the big screen. As soon as they showed Fox Face, I whispered "Fox Face!" under my breath.

I kinda want to watch it again, because I'm sure I missed some stuff in all of my fangirl excitedness.

psst. You can say Rue was black. It's actually less offensive than "African American" usually. Unless she actually came from, you know, Africa.

  • I judge my coworker who NEVER empties his garbage because "they used to do it for us." (Yes, really. Our custodial staff used to come and empty every garbage can.) For the last, oh, 2 years though, we've had to *gasp* bring our our garbage bag the 20 feet to the main garbage can by the kitchen. Because we lost two full time custodial staff (of a team of 8.)

The reason I judge? WE HAVE FRUIT FLIES NOW. gross.

Hasn't there been some witnesses that have come forward that paint Treyvon as the attacker, not the attackee? One guy said he saw him on top of Zimmerman on the ground, punching him in the head.

I don't know which side to believe, as I'm sure the media is twisting this in ways to gain followers, but it's definitely interesting to follow and hear both sides of the story. When the news first broke of it, they only showed a photo of Zimmerman in an orange shirt, making him look like a convict, but now with this new information, the photo they're using is of him in a suit and tie smiling at the camera.

  • It fires me up when people say, "well Trayvon was suspended for pot." or, "well, they are using Trayvons first name in the media but Zimmermans last name. It is so bias." Know what really sucks? The fact that Zimmerman is alive to tell his side of the story but Trayvon isn't.

And followed a teenager sound a neighborhood when the 911 operator told him not to? Ugh. This story just drives me crazy.

I read somewhere that Zimmermans friend said something along the lines of if Trayvon just stated his business, this wouldnt have happened. I didn't realize someone walking down the street needed to state their business to some stranger.

  • When we moved away from family when I was young we'd always go back a couple times a year to visit.  My grandfather smoked like a chimney and it got to the point where he just smelled gross from it.  One time when we were leaving I refused to go near him because of the odor.  He hasn't touched a cig since :)
  • LDY, good for the 5 year old! But his mother's response makes me angry.  Poor kids :(

That's really sad. Good for your nephew, though.

Lenny Kravitz was not at all how I pictured Cinna. I imagined a white guy with a gold-painted tint, a bit more flamboyant looking (like a toned-down version of the Captiol people). But, LK pulled it off. I really liked him as Cinna. My dad thought he was pervy though. I told him he needd to read the books to really understand who Cinna is.

And if all he needed to do was state his business, then why didn't Zimmerman ask him?  I would bet large amounts of money that Zimmerman never asked him what he was doing, but just immediately jumped into at least verablly attacking him.

I don't buy that Trayvon was attacking him.  There was that girl he was on the phone with (his sister?) at the time of Zimmerman following him.  He was saying how some guy was following him.  I don't buy for a second that Zimmerman didn't have negative intent in killing that kid or that he truly felt in harms way.
  • I judge the volume in our local movie theater.  We went to see HG last weekend, I hadn't been in a while, and it was cranked up so high during the previews that I actually had to cover my ears during an action scene.

The movie was slightly better, but during that scene after the explosion (those of you who've seen it will know) I thought it might be my ears that were ringing.  Aren't there rules about safe volume levels in theaters?  If not, there should be!

Even if there was aggression on Treyvon's side (since I don't know that they can prove either way at this point), I'm pretty sure there were other ways to resolve it that didn't end in his death.  I'm all for personal rights, but when they harm another person you are now taking away their right to live.  The death penalty is contraversial enough without it being put in the hands of individual citizens.  I think it will be a pretty huge injustice if Zimmerman doesn't get some kind of punishment out of this, I don't see how he is innocent.
