A s/o of something someone said in BK's thread. I dont get garter toss hate.  Not everyone who does them makes it something overly dirty and sexual.  We did it and it was funny.  Its not just for young brides and can be done in a playful non trashy way.

When people post in an advice type thread and only post about themselves/their situation and it is of no help to the OP. Basically, people that really like to talk about themselves. I have seen newbs doing it, or maybe it just especially bothers me when newbs do it.

The same goes for when they give the same advice as the PP just their story or how they got to that conclusions is different.
In Response to Re: TK irrational irritations : I find that annoying too. It's better than what I've seen on epic threads on TB though. People will just post "so-and-so was here" because they want to be part of the ridiculousness but have nothing to contribute.  It happened all over that one thread where the bumpie unknowingly had a guy with his diiick hanging out as her sig pic.
    Posted by kodakitty
They do that so they can find the thread later in the 'my posts' thing on TB. Since, you know, the search still doesn't work anywhere.

  • No so much an irritation as an eye-roll, but when people gush about how much they love someone. Not in love fests, since, well, that's what they are. But randomly quoting something funny or whatever and going on about how much of a boner you have for that person. It's weird.

When people can't spell my SN right. This stems from people always spelling my real name wrong. Read what's in front of you, people.
Totally pointless: I don't understand how people can not know who D'artagnan is.  The Three Musketeers is (I think so anyway) one of the great classics of Western Literature.  It's been mentioned millions of times via pop-culture references and, even for you non-readers, there have to be more than a hundred adaptation of the movie. To me it's like saying you don't know who Little Orphan Annie is or have never heard of Cinderella.  Boggles my mind.

  • I get irrationally annoyed when people think they need to spell out someone's entire SN in order for that person to know you're talking to them.

I don't need to say Seshat411 for Sesh to know I'm talking to her, etc.

It's usually an indicator of how little someone has lurked, and how unfamiliar they are with message boards in general.
  • AATB- I can not click on the Etiquette board without saying it the "ermagherd" voice. Thanks for that.

  • Haha I totally giggle when I see a newb type someone's full sn. Unless its like, Nebb, because that is easy to type out all the way. I freakin hate the "sits back" or "pops popcorn" crap.

I am guilty of this. For me it was more of a comfort thing since I am somewhat of a newb -- kinda like calling your friends parents by their first names. Idk if that is a good comparison, but I definitely didn't feel comfortable coming out and being all like, "Hi sesh, and duds, and AATB, etc" because I thought y'all would be like, "And you are?"

You nutters get knocked up like its going out of style so WHERE are these ladies who don't want any? Where are they all hiding and why are so many of them NOT here?

So typing out a whole name makes a difference how? (read this in a friendly tone)

If you're that new, you're either going to get totally ignored/passed over because you're not recognized and not saying anything interesting.  Or, you'll say something interesting and someone will look to see who said it and you'll get noticed.  Typing out a name is just going to make people notice you in an "ohh, bless her heart" kind of way, not much more.

Just quote, people will know you're responding to them.

Or totally type out people's names and people will continue to laugh at you.  Whatever.  It's not that big of a deal either way.
