    Seriously?
  • Are we still judging things?

I judge my boss for some how sliming out of this Morning with Santa thing that we are doing at work and making me organize the whole thing. Well, I wouldn't mind organizing it, but when I asked him if he was going to help out the day of, he said "uh, no. I want to bring my kids so that they can enjoy Santa."

Uh okay, diickhead. We both know that I have a kid too. What makes you so special that you get to weasel out of any responsibility?

And I may DD this later because I'm super paranoid.
  • Yeah, underwear is hidden but that doesn't mean it's appropriate for a 12 year old to be shopping at VS.  It'd be ignorant to encourage or allow a young girl to shop at a place like that without encouraging or allowing all of the connotations that come along with it- that the sexy undies are made to be seen by someone else.

Small price to pay for my landlord not thinking I'm a dumbshit/PITA tenant. My old roommate wanted to call our landlord for every little thing. When I told her, "don't piss him off, I don't want him to raise our rent when our lease is up" she was incredulous that that could actually happen. I moved out before we found out.

I gotta say, we clip our own hedges, fixed our bathroom door once, and even cleaned the communal laundry room. Our landlord LOVES us.

[QUOTE]In Response to Re: Can we judge things? : I get what your saying. I don't want my imaginary daughter looking like a harlot or anything, I just don't see the issue with underwear, it's hidden (well, with good pants and belt). My mom and I had numerous arguments about it. It was also lame seeing all my friends shop at VS and have little boy shorts, etc, when I had granny panties.

Yeah I agree. I don't really see the big deal. Let your kid wear whatever damn kind of underwear she wants as long as she's not showing it to everyone!

  • I judge my roommate for moving out without permission and then thinking she doesn't have to pay rent. You're still on on the lease, we're not signing you out and now that the landlord knows you're lying, good luck getting her on your side.

Also just because someone wears slutty underwear doesn't mean they're actually a slut or they will turn into one.

Meh, I wore thongs starting in 8th grad e(I was 13).  I didn't do it because they were sexy.  I did it because I have an odd bum to fit underwear on and I ALWAYS had panty lines and underwear creeping up my ass.

<div>UGGGH. This was always my mom's argument. Or maybe: the girl just wants to look and feel cute and it has nothing to do with sex whatsoever. Like matching your socks to your outfit. Also, if you see my above post, it was also about fitting in with my friends (lame and not necessarily a good reason, but I was 12, and again, the goal was not sex).</div>

I do agree with this. But just to play devil's advocate - why would a 12 year old feel the need to shop for underwear at VS if they aren't showing or planning on showing anyone, KWIM?

As a matter of fact, I think making sure you're 12 year old is not wearing sexy underwear might deter them from wanting to show anyone, haha.

I think there is a very distinct difference here- and I'll probably be accused of being a pearl clutcher again- but thongs to be are a lot more about comfort and practicality than being sexy.  I guess what I'm reacting to is Reddy mentioning that she wishes she was able to shop at VS when she was young.  For adults, sure, VS can be all about comfort and being sexy at the same time.  But for a young girl, shopping there, or at Fredericks, isn't about the practicality of it.

Edit: that was about as clear as mud, sorry.  Let's just say I agree with LTZ.

Yeah, I mean, shopping at VS might be a little premature for a middle schooler. (Then again, I have no idea, I haven't been in middle school since the 90s, haha.) But if she wants to wear underwear that, generally, doesn't come out of a plastic multi-pack I think that's fine. My mom was SOOOO strict with underwear when I was growing up so this is coming from a place of "not wanting to wear grannies at age 14" frustration!

[QUOTE]I judge everyone who fails miserably at driving in snowy weather here in Cleveland. No one moves here just for fun or anything, I know they've all experienced snow before, but every time it snows or rains a lot you would swear all the drivers were just imported from L.A. or Arizona or something. It's awful. Half the people pretend there's no snow or ice on the ground and drive like maniacs, and the other half act like the slightest snowfall is a blizzard and drive way too damn slow which is also a huge hazard.
