Re: Unpopular Opinions

  • Until I am in a situation where FI cheats I can't really say. I give a lot of credit to people who are able to work together and get thru something like that.

Agreed! It is about people taking responsibility for themselves. The whole idea of leaders and followers, particularly in criminal situations strikes me as wrong. A "follower" is someone who just wants to get permission/disclaim responsibility for his/her actions from a 'stronger" personality.

Ditto...I know it's not the same thing, but I get flak for where my KIDS sleep - sometimes they end up in my bed in the middle of the night and I truly DO NOT care. As long as everyone is sleeping, I'm happy.

Agreed! I almost never admit IRL that my dogs sleep with us because it grosses people out. I never even knew it phased people until the first couple times it came up and people made a face. We wash our sheets and our dogs 1-2 times a week so I don't feel dirty or anything.
  • I have little booties for my dogs, too.  The pavement is far too hot in the summers for their pads.

We sleep with the dog. I know some are not fans of Ceasar Milan, but I think one thing he is right on 100% is that it is okay to sleep with the dog. Part of the night she is on the bed and part of the on the floor (she does not like dog beds).

My dog is a little Pom who goes for walks and spends the rest of her time indoors-nothing dirty about her and even dogs of the more outdoorsy variety, well humans are major germ carriers and if you wash your dog and your sheets-no biggy.

I really hate this mis-conception people have with pits. My brother lived in the city and had a female pit, someone broke into his apartment and she attacked him. The would-be thief sues and my brothers dog gets put down because she's a dangerous breed and wasn't in a crate. Total BS

The saying "You can't change anyone, but yourself", yet we try so hard to change or persuasively suggest that they follow your way over theirs...maybe it's a level of maturity, I don't know...

But then I saw this shirt on despair.com and I laughed a lot, and I'm still chuckling now!

    That makes perfect sense.

    But for a regular, run-of-the-mill four-year, low-stress degree...no.
I've fussed about my roomie before.  He didn't work his last two years of college, even when his classes were tapering off, and he was taking BS classes to fulfil random requirements. Bowling for health credit??

I worked two jobs while earning two associate's degrees, but I wasn't as good as him at Mario.

  • I think talking on a hands-free cell while driving is no more dangerous than having convos with passengers. Maybe we should not do either, but face ot, most of us are going to.

I have been in a serious accident and I lost a relative in a serious accident, so it is not like I don;t understand safety-but lets get real.

I also think that if we are really serious about drunk driving, we should have much smaller parking lots in bars (you know, the employ-and-designated-driver only kind!)

  • I think the knot should be able to ban ip addresses. I understand how ridiculous this could get with mods have free reign to ban an ip address, but I still like the idea.
  • I think pitbulls are inherently aggressive dogs and while how you treat them does have a GIANT effect on how they behave (I'm not discounting that at all), I think at some point in a pitbull's life, no matter how well you've trained him, that aggression is going to come out and hurt someone.

I agree. I also sometimes think that the girls who post with "just let them pick their own dresses and stop being so controlling" are just jumping on the bandwagon. I think that when you agree to be a BM, you agree to wear the dress the bride picks out, provided it's not hugely slutty, outregeously expensive, or offensive in some way. Sometimes, BMs just need to STFU. It's one day and it's not your wedding. Wear the damn dress.

I also think that parents paying shouldn't mean they get to plan the party THEY want, not the B&G. They should be helping because they love their son or daughter and want them to have a fantastic wedding, not so they can throw the wedding they always wanted for themselves. That being said, it's not often the case so it's just easier to pay for it yourself.

  • I don't think every single fight with your FI should be deemed a "red flag". That's more of a Knot pet peeve than an unpopular opinion though =P
  • I am thinking of using the words "obey" and "till death do us part" in my vows, but know that it will blow some people away.  I don't feel submissive to my FI, but I feel I can say it, and mean it.
