FI can't wait to get a Rottie, but we have to wait till we're in a bigger place. First of all, we live in a 1bdrm/1bath apartment that's 700 square feet. A rottweiler would literally wear that apartment. Secondly, we live on the third floor, which would make potty training nearly impossible.

I took FI to see some puppies around Christmas last year, and he picked one up and it licked his chin, and he gave me the biggest (for lack of a better term) puppy dog eyes I've ever seen. He looked like a little boy. My heart melted; I wish I had a camera to take a pic of that look LOL. I had to get him out of there immediately or we would have spend our entire combined income on the whole litter of pups that day.

Ben's friends had adopted a Rottweiler about a year ago when they still lived in a small apartment.  I thought it was nice of them to rescue the dog - but yeah, the apartment was not a good place for him.

He is a sweet dog, too.  When we'd go over there it was a little unnerving because he looks mean, but his little stubby tail was wagging furiously.  He would do dominant things though, like sit on your feet or sit down and lean against you really hard.  He was the boss of that apartment.

When we first got our dog, we lived in a tiny duplex, about the same size as your apartment. She was a little wench and peed all over the floors even though she was potty trained, she would get mad at us and pee on the floor to spite us, I know it. She also chewed the corner off the bathroom vanity and chewed a hole in the drywall behind the toilet, because she was mad at us. She's a smart little booger and knows how to manipulate H and I.

But he did go to jail and he has had to pay for the rehab of the dogs in his care (which is something that a "regular joe" would not have had to do).  When he got out of jail, no team wanted him.  It is making less than he was making initially and if Kolb hadn't been out with an injury he would not have had a starting positiion. If as a society we don't allow felons to re-enter society  then what is the point of jail?  If we can't rehabilitate offenders (and some we can't) then what do we do with them?

I think that one of the reasons why I can say it, or at least feel I could say it, is because I know that he would never ask me to.  And, as I was told the root of the word obey is "listen intently and follow counsel" not as in SIT when I say SIT.  (

The trust come into play knowing, that I am with someone that has our best interest at heart.  Not on a power play and making decrees and demands for the sake of it.

I've trying to put this into words and failing miserably....   The message that the word "obey" conveys to my FI is that in this entire world, there is no one, other that you, that I trust with my sanity, safety and happiness, and when push comes to shove, I'll listen to you, and take your counsel.   I can say that and not feel that I have lost my self-identy or dignity.  wait.....  I think you just helped me figure out my vows without using the contraversal word....

I think this is part of the reason I don't like them. FI's parents have cats and every time we go over there I dread having cat hair on me. They have litter box and it very clean and I've never seen poop in it. There is just cat hair on the couches and I cringe when we go over and I have to sit.

Also it could be the fact that FMIL and I don't see eye to eye a lot and I think she may convince the cats to attack me. :::: kidding:::

Now this makes perfect sense to me, and it is an amazing and beautiful feeling to know this about your life partner.  I still don't think that's what the word "obey" means, though, at least it doesn't mean that if only one person says it in her vows.  Perhaps if both people said it, it could mean that.  Because doesn't he feel that way about you?  I'll bet he does.

  • He should be allowed to re-enter society, but not earning millions a year. When the average Joe is rehabilitated and allowed to re-enter society, you know where they end up working...McDonald's, BK or some bust ass construction job. My thing is is that he got to return to doing what he loves. Yes he served his jail time and paid his monetary debt, but he's still coming out smelling like a rose somewhat. He gets to return to his lavish lifestyle. Average Joes will likely never get their previous lives back.

Yes I can and it made my day better. I think it just the hair issue that I have. I know not all cat owner's home is full of hair. the funny this is every one says FI and I should get a cat. We want a dog but I feel bad because we are gone 12hrs a day and when we get home all we want to do is eat and sleep. I'd feel bad knowing the poor thing is along at home in our condo. So they say get a cat they are better at being alone.
