Yeah, I wish I felt that way about my job. I used to but I've lost the love.

There's so much stuff I want to do with my life, but I'm too busy earning money so I can do a fraction of what I want to do. It seems like such a waste. So I fit stuff in here and there around work and get on with life, but really, it sucks.

  • [QUOTE]I can't stand if when people use text shortcuts when they are not texting someone. I feel so stupid because the people on here use a lot of them I don't know. They're generally not text shortcuts, but abbreviations of commonly used phrases. I don't understand why the general public needs a say in things they don't understand. Don't we elect the smart people to runs things for a reason...they actually know what they are doing and have a better chance of being successful than the person who barely graduated from high school. If you automatically think elected officials are smarter than everyone just because they're elected officials, then you really are not that smart yourself. Thus being said, why do parents get away with telling principals and teachers how to do their jobs? Who went to college again...oh yeah, I remember, not you so please stop talking. -In case you read this far, no I don't think every parent is uneducated, but they should not be thought of as the experts in something they didn't spend years studying. Clearly this is some personal thing. Dude, you don't have to get all bent out of shape about it. It's my opinion. An unpopular one, apparently, but HEY - we're on an INTERNATIONAL message board and a thread called Unpopular Opinions! Jeez, would you look at that?

  • Justaposition,
The best teachers are the ones that teach students how to think, and how to find the answers themselves through understanding the principles of the topic at hand. I was blessed to have a few of those teachers. Teachers who only use repetition and memorization suck, and their students don't retain much. I know, because I was a student for a long time, and that makes me an expert on the definition of a good teacher.

My mother is a kindergarten teacher and is NOT a glorified babysitter. She is at school from 6:45am to 6pm, with duty and grading and evaluations and committee meetings. She spends at least 4 hours per weekend doing lesson plans. Her job is a lot harder than mine, even though I make twice as much. She has to be ON all day long, every day, and can't take more than 4 sick days without getting her pay docked. SHe gets no personal days. She has to buy all of her own teaching supplies, as she is given nothing but textbooks and workbooks from the school district.

Maybe if parents would do their jobs and raise their children to NOT be hoodlums at school, then teachers wouldn't have to spend so much time on discipline, and they could get more teaching done. However, they should make more because they are currently doing the job of an instructor AND a parent.

The reason your opinion is unpopular is because it is ignorant. I hope the thesis committee grilledyou relentlessly for 3 days on that one. ANything less and I would have to think they were nothing more than glorified babysitters.

I'm not sure why anyone would stay home if they weren't financially stable. Fi and I have even talked about it and I would have no problem taking care of him but the facts are that he's always going to be the breadwinner. I don't think it should be the man's job to take care of the woman but if he can, great and vice versa!
