I agree mica. It's not up to anyone, but the parents, when someone takes their newborn out.

I actually said this in the thread today: my parents took me camping at 4 weeks  Not miles from civilization or anything, but at a state park.  I seem to have turned out ok.  And my mom loved it, because sleeping in a tent near a lake made me sleep all night, which is about as good as life gets for a new mom.

Seriously though, guys. I feel like I'm the only one that is the girl in the office who jumps at any free homemade food. The concept of someone putting poison in them is so preposterous and possible hair/poop remnants probably won't hurt me. I think the thing that has grossed me out most in the workplace was seeing people not wash their hands before eating. This was mainly because I worked at a bank. Money is the most disgusting and germ filled thing ever (ok exaggeration but still) and we touched it all day long.

I am a grad student.  Free food, especially homemade, is like manna from heaven.  And I don't question it.

I eat any good looking homemade food.  That poop and hair keeps my immune system healthy.

I'm not a grad student anymore, but somehow have retained this mentality. It's free?  And looks fine?  I am eating it for sure!

If someone brings in homemade baked goods I will eat it, as long as it doesn't have coconut in it.

I've made homemade candies and cookies for my nurses for the last two years.  That stuff runs out within minutes of me putting it in the nurses' station.  Clearly the norm is for people to eat food prepared by others.

Kind of off topic, but j and I are moving next weekend and want to start boxing up stuff now. Any ideas on where to get free boxes? Heh.

Check your local grocery store, sometimes they have leftover boxes and will give them away before they get recycled.  It's worth asking!

Do you have a Trader Joe's around?  They give away their empty wine boxes.

Produce boxes from the grocery store, preferably apple boxes which tend to be the sturdiest.

I definitely should look at the grocery store. Mica, I know there is a trader joes but I have never been there so I'm not quite sure where it is. But worth looking into!

    Try liquor stores.

MS- When H and I moved we got all of our boxes from the liquor store.  We went in and asked if we could have any and they loaded the entire bed of our truck up.

Soooo I shouldn't be counting out our cash box AND eating my pizza?

MS.  How do you have a Trader joe's that you've never been to? I love that place!  Reasonable prices, lots of organic food, cheap wine, and the world's greatest ginger snaps.  Seriously, the triple ginger snaps are amazing.

I actually put the pizza down before counting the cash box... but fully intended on eating more when I was done. A thorough hand-washing and subsequent hand sanitization will be forthcoming, though.

I was just about to come back here KellyBrian. OMG what a judgemental POS. WTF is wrong with her? I know we all got the "you should be nicer to people" post, but FFS sometimes it's just impossible when you encounter a self righteous bittch like that stuck up little ho. (and yes I tried to include as many insults to that twat (there's another) as I could to show just how much she pissed me off).

I'd really like to think the Sapphire girl posting there (towards end of Page 1 & onto Page 2) is made up and not really that entitled/snobby... but having graduated from a HS in an afluent community [when parents are anything but], sadly I know way too many people who think the same way she does. Makes me want to slap someone. hard.

    Hi again!

I'm sitting here watching hockey. Not quite sure what we're talking about here, boxes, bridesmaid dresses and food??

I eat food, no matter who brings it in and I work as a counselor and clients used to drop off stuff they made at home. Gross? eh oh well.
