Re: Monday Night

  • MK, right now we are really interested in Clemson. Possibly somewhere in TX too. But I want him to get into Clemson because for whatever reason I fell in love with that area.

  • Excellent point. I shall ask for a trip to visit Baby Fezz.

  • Bay, are you still here? I'll give you a hint about grad school: no one expects you to read the whole book. Do the intro, conclusion, and then skim the rest, no need to read all the nitty gritty rape details. Also, I like gender studies. If you read anything really interesting please tell me about it.

    Oh yeah, hello everyone!

Well it won't happen til Summer 2013 at the earliest, so just COME VISIT A LOT BEFORE THEN! ;)

  • Well I'm partial to both SC & TX, so you're good with either. Where in TX?

    WTF is a push present?

I supposed I might need to know these things since Lucas and I had the TTC convo this weekend.

  • HOLY SHIIT.

  • Musu, for some reason I thought J was in grad school now. Am I crazy?
  • Anna -- thanks for the warning!  I shall do that from now on.  I was wondering how the hell I was going to manage all this reading.  I'm a fast reader, but some of these books are damn long and each class expects one a week.  I'm about 65% done with this book, I shall commence skimming now.

  • I've heard soooo many good things about SC. It looks gorgeous. I think for TX probably Houston since it is close to the coast, but we aren't really particular.

He is taking grad classes as part of his undergrad degree. He took a year and a half off from undergrad so that is why he is still doing it (also is in a dual degree physics/civil engineering program AND transferred schools, so it has taken a while). He should be done w/ his degree after this next Fall, so we are thinking once I graduate, we will go to whereever is best for his grad program.

  • FISH yes we do!!!! My first game is April 11 and after going to Twinsfest this weekend, I am SO PUMPED.
    image
  • Bay, it took me a while to figure out about the reading, but I promise no one reads the whole book. Good historians know how to put all the really important information in the introduction anyway.

Musu, so are you going to just take the bar wherever he ends up in grad school?
  • Fishy that hasn't been nailed down yet, but for the first time (ever) I have baby urges. So we had the talk. We were still on the "Do we want to have kids?" phase. Now I think we're in the "We're going to have kids, but don't know when," phase.

MuSu Lucas's entire family lives in Texas City which is south of Houston between there and Galveston.

Probably. I will practice there while J is in grad school, but we do plan to come back here to raise a family. So eventually I will take the MN bar later in life. I think we just both need a change of scenery, especially J.

  • I've been shopping...clearly going to Monaco = excuse to buy new dress

what do you think of these:

    and

    ?
  • I love those dresses MUN. Why are you going to Monaco? I am totally jealous.

  • MuSu- My unsolicited advice is to take the bar where you move and worry about MN later. Which I see is what you just said.

Our career services people pretty much told me it would be stupid to NOT take the Ohio bar right after graduation and then take CA in February or July. I passed in Ohio, but I really really wish I had just taken the CA bar in July '10. My study time would have been the same and all of my lawyer contacts out here told me that pretty much no one out here will even look at my resume until I pass CA. Ugh.

  • MUNI, I like the first one better, its more interesting. I'm not a huge fan of one shoulder dresses in general though.
  • I was mostly making fun of myself because IM NEVER AROUND ANYMORE BECAUSE MY JOB IS SUFFOCATING ME. :)

<div>Musu, you should check and see if whatever state you move to has reciprocity with MN - in a lot of states, if you practiced in a reciprocal jurisdiction for a certain period of time (usually somewhere between 3 and 5 years) you can "waive in" to certain other states  [example - if I practice for 5 years in NY I can "waive in" to Georgia without taking their bar exam].  Some states have no reciprocity at all (California comes to mind) but many, many do.</div><div>
</div><div>And thanks for the Pinterest info everyone - I know I am late on that, but I was driving home and then heating up dinner.</div>

That sucks that they gave you the bad advice! Bummer. :( I don't even know IF we are moving but it is a pretty strong possibility at this point.

  • Muni, I also think the first one is more expensive looking. The Nicole Miller one looks kind of cheap, I don't think it's worth what it costs.

Thanks. :) I remember that Andy had to take the bar in MN here after being in IL for a few years, don't remember how many though. Reciprocity would be great!
