  • And MUN1 I vote #2 if we're voting - I flipping love that color.

  • I agree Anna. I see them on other people and think they are cute, but when I put on a one-shoulder dress, I look ridiculously akward.

I like one shouldered on me- i have a sort of large chest but no cleavage- if I wear something low cut all you see is breastbone, if I wear something higher cut my chest looks disproportionately large.  Having the line going across breaks that up.

I was leaning towards the first two.  I like the sort of architectural/sculptural feel of the pattern

ETA: and MuSu- we're going for our honeymoon.  But not until the summer.  I'm clearly over-excited at the excuse to buy a new dress.
  • That's a good point, Anna.  You're right that the Nicole Miller one looks cheaper.

[QUOTE]In Response to Re: Monday Night : Thanks. :) I remember that Andy had to take the bar in MN here after being in IL for a few years, don't remember how many though. Reciprocity would be great!

<div>States are actually more likely to have reciprocity with far away states than with nearby states (to continue my NY example, NY doesn't have reciprocity with NJ or CT, but has it with random places like Georgia).  I think it's because they compete for attorneys, so CT doesn't want to lose out on bar exam fees to NY by allowing NY lawyers to just waive in, but since NY and Georgia aren't really in competition with each other for lawyers, it's cool for them to accept each other's licenses.</div>

[QUOTE]Bay, it took me a while to figure out about the reading, but I promise no one reads the whole book. Good historians know how to put all the really important information in the introduction anyway. Musu, so are you going to just take the bar wherever he ends up in grad school?

<div>I knew some states had reciprocity, but I never knew this was the reason why. That's really interesting. Moving to CA just kinda screwed me though.</div>

  • Musu, I'm pretty sure anyone can waive into DC, so there's that. My H just filled out the form and paid the fees.
  • PHEW.

Yeah, not a cheap whore, I just think Moroccan adventure requires something more...flowy, maybe? Summery? Brightly colored?

  • Fishy, i'm planning to wear it to dinner at the Casino Monte-Carlo.  So, I'm going for more of the expensive hoar look.
  • Sup hoochies. I don't know what's going on since you guys talk too much. But I just got home and trying to decide dinner.

<div>100% true.  DC lets everyone in, and I don't think anyone actually takes the DC bar (although supposedly the exam exists).</div><div>
</div><div>As for California, CA is one of only two states (FL is the other) that has no reciprocity with anyone, so yeah, moving to CA as an attorney is a major PITA.</div>

  • YES it was you, Steph!
  • Probably because CA has their own wackadoo set of laws for everything. hah.

  • Hi lovelies! MuSu, you and J should come HERE for his grad school.
  • Haha, Erin, unfortunately I don't think we will be moving out of state if his school isn't somewhere significantly warmer. ;)

I read somewhere once that the reason Hillary Clinton finally accepted Bill's proposals is because she couldn't pass the DC bar so she gave in and moved to Arkansas.

This is probably completely false, but anyway, I think the DC bar used to be really hard.

<div>NY law can be a little whacked, but CA is especially ridiculous.  We have a case venued in CA at my firm right now, and I end up stuck proofreading all the briefs for it.  The CA rules seriously make my brain hurt.</div>

<div>The exam itself is in fact legendarily difficult, but since they let you waive in, everyone just sits for Virginia or Maryland and then waives in now.  Maybe people weren't allowed to waive in back when Hilary was taking the bar?</div>

Yeah, if the story is true that's what I think the story is. My H waived in with the VA bar I think. He's barred in FL too but I think that wouldn't have worked because of the whole no reciprocity thing.
  • My profs often joke about CA when we read cases from there because they usually allow things that aren't allowed everywhere else.
    image
  • I've taken two bar exams at this point, and I refuse to take any others.  If FI and I ever have to move, it's going to be to a reciprocal state or else I get to be a SAHW.

  • The job title as historian sounds so badass.

  • Tortis, he doesn't practice, he works as counsel/policy advisor for a member of congress (which sounds cooler than it really is).
