I judge

Please help distract me.

I judge a man at my church. He's been homeless for a while now, and the minister's discretionary fund has been used to get him a motel room for a few months. The money for that has run out, and he just announced he's moving to California.

He's throwing himself a going away party. He said he'd accept anything anyone wants to give him, since it would be disrespectful not to.

The multiple shopping centers within walking distance of his motel have had "now hiring" signs up for the past few weeks. He could easily get a job at Target or Panera or one of the fifteen other places hiring. Dream job? No, but at least he could pay his own way.

Your turn.

Re: I judge

  • I should add that I'm not judging him for being homeless--shiit happens. I'm judging him for not making every effort to help himself and for making a whole crowd of people feel like he took advantage of them.
  • to follow your lead, I judge my cousin's wife.  She is a SAHM and complains constantly about being broke.  His father pays their phone bills.

Just last month she was bragging about how they all (her, hubby and their 4 kids) now all have brand new Kindle Fires.

    ummm....

this sucks!   FI got a decline RSVP card yesterday from one of his best friends.  The buddy is spending the day at the lake for a grad party.  I get the grad party...but all day???  FI is pretty bummed out :(

  • I judge my coworker, who makes 4 times what I do and cries poor. Maybe if you didnt take 6 trips to London every year you wouldn't be "struggling" for cash.

  • Rach, that sucks. Was it a once-in-a-lifetime tennis thing?

Myname, that irritates me, too. I stay home, but I don't bitch about not having money. We pay our bills, have fun and still manage to save some money.
  • I definitely judge trashy club chicks. Overheard last Friday night between trashy club chick and trashy club chick's friend:

"Trashy club chick, you know you can see your panties whenever you dip low right?!"
"Oh. But only a little bit right?"

It was not only a little bit. *shudder*

And on the club note, I super hardcore judge the guy that came over to me and yelled in my ear "You're not wearing a bra, and that's really inappropriate."

I WAS wearing a bra, that's super fvcking creepy, and I'm pretty sure even if I wasn't, you going over to a random stranger was much more inappropriate. Alcohol is no excuse!

  • special, I know people like that.  He is a self proclaimed "missionary" who meets people for coffee to discuss life.  He has children, his wife doesn't work and he doesn't work and expects the church to support him.  Luckily, it's not my church, but still.  Then when that church says no, they move onto another church, and post of FB about how they can't afford meds for their kids and this and that.  I just want to scream "GET A BLOODY JOB!".

No I agree.  It drives me mad all these women at work who complain about having no money and yet spend every lunch hour going out to lunch and shopping.  Make a sandwich.  It's not that hard.

I judge my co-worker who constantly talks about all of her friends behind their backs (on the phone with other friends) and then is constantly upset that friends x, y, and z aren't talking to her anymore.
  • I didn't even know you could get a $300/month cable package.

I judge myself for just not getting my ass in gear and doing work/homework/housework/anything.  I'm seriously unmotivated and that's definitely making things more difficult.

<div>I do too. Especially working at a bank. I had some jackass come in the other day threatening to sue us because he couldn't keep track of what he was spending. He was like, my age and was all "WELL, my accountant advised me to close this account, but I'm going to give you guys the opportunity to avoid having to go to court." And we laughed our asses off. Buddy, if you can't afford 200 dollars to get your account out of the negative, you definitely can't afford to sue us, and you probably don't have an accountant.</div>
  • I judge people who come into ring threads (like that clusterfvck about CZ rings) and say things like "I would rather have a really really nice smaller diamond than a big flawed diamond". To me its a diick thing to say.

I understand its just stating an opinion much like "I would rather have vanilla ice cream than chocolate ice cream" but the implication there is what annoys me. Like you are some how a superior individual because you wouldn't want a bigger diamond. You are so amazing. Mother Theresa in a fvcking Zales commercial.

  • Agreed Any's H is very handsome. Are his eyes really that blue?
  • I judge people who think getting jobs at places like Target and Panera are easy.   It's kind of insulting to think they just hire anyone off the streets.  Sometimes you need more than just a warm body.

I've been trying to get a job a various hotels around here.  It's not easy.  I'm too qualified for some jobs or made too much at my old job they think I will not stick around.

Don't get me even started that not everyone is suited for a customer service type job.

What differentiates an average host and a great host is anticipating unexpressed needs and wants of their guests.  Just because the want/need is not expressed, doesn't mean it wouldn't be appreciated.

<div>You get all kinds of premium channels (sports, HBO, etc).  I know because my parents do it too.  They can afford it but I still judge them because it's just such a stupid waste of money when they watch like... 3 channels ever and they're all part of the basic package.</div>

<div>I was so curious, so I asked once. They have EVERY movie channel available, whole-house DVR, the package with the most channels, and they order movies all the time, even though they could wait a week and watch it on their movie channels. <img src="http://cdn.cl9.vanillaforums.com/downloaded/ver1.0/content/scripts/tinymce/plugins/emotions/images/smiley-yell.gif" border="0" alt="Yell" title="Yell" /> The price also includes internet.</div>
