Re: New KPS

  • I remember when my friend was trying to get pregnant, her doctor told her to have sex 3 times a day every other day.  That's all the info I have on TTC, haha.  I plan on getting much more from TCOYF and the lovely ladies here when it's time.

    Huh, interesting! Thanks Mrs.B :)

  • Yeah I plan on buying TCOYF when H is dpeloyed and starting to get used to that stuff.

I've always read that the egg lives 24 hours and the sperm lives up to 5 days, but now I'm guessing that there are other things that determine the actual length of "life"?
  • haha I know, it seemed like a lot for me.  And by the third time, is there really anything left in there?  The guy I mean.

I read somewhere that it's better to have sex every other day while TTC to get the sperm volume/density up.

TR, I was wondering the same thing.

I also want to know who has time to have sex three times a day besides college students.

  • Ok. So does anyone know if after you ovulate, if you do get pregnant, do you stop getting all that extra cervical gunk immediately? Or do you continue on your normal crevically junk path and then just not have a period?
    I hope that makes sense...
  • I thought I remembered reading that too, mica. But I was afraid to chime in because I'm certainly not well-read on the topic. Embarassed
  • Regarding multiple sex sessions a day: it may not help all that much.  The "best" sperm by number are going to be in the first ejaculate.  The man's body needs time to produce more so that's why the every other day schedule is recommended.  Besides.... ouch.  =-)

<div>No, that's about right. But of course the sperm have to be strong swimmers and find their way first. But that is why charting helps, because you can have them there before the egg is released and increase your chances of getting pregnant. </div>

Doesn't getting the timing of the sperm have something to do with the sex of the baby too? or is that a myth?

[QUOTE]I'm actually really nervous about waiting too long to start TTC.  H seems to think that the first time we have unprotected sex, I'm going to get pregnant.  I haven't convinced him that the chances of that are very, very slim. Unless you were on my month board.  Because seriously, within a month of our weddings I think at least three of those lucky girls were pregnant.  <strong>Something in the Nov. '10 water?</strong>

There's some things out there that will tell you about when to have sex if you want a boy vs. girl. I have two friends that both wanted boys, followed the timing, and both had boys. Don't know if it's just coincidence or what, but it happened for them.

I think I remember learning something about how XY sperm are faster swimmers, but die quicker and XX swim slower, but live longer?  Or the opposite.  But something like that.  So I think timing can kind of affect it.

  • Ghoti, I did learn a lot from the book (I actually bought What to Expect Before You're Expecting). I really wish I had bought it sooner though just because I think it's really useful in general.

And I'm with Fezz, shouldn't you know all of this? ;)

I have 2, I'm either very fertile or very lucky, my first was from the first and only time we had sex (long story) and the second was from me thinking I couldn't get pregnant while breastfeeding and not wrapping it up. Now I'm freaking out because we had sex bare the other day and used the pull out method( irresponsible, I know, it was the only time in 2 years we've done that) and then *TMI* I started getting that snotty slime the next evening and now it's gone and I'm at normal.<div>
</div><div>ETA: basically, I'm like every other shmuck out there who doesn't plan their children but loves them nonetheless :) I was trying to not talk about it though because it seems insensitive.</div>
