FFF

Okay, I'm all pissy after sitting here reading a bunch of people spew awful advice and I'm going to call out TheBaney for saying in the "girlfriend invitation" (<--- clicky) thread that you can tell a person is in a long term relationship if they announce they are engaged or moving in together and you don't think "ZOMG, that's too fast!" when they announce it.

Holy judgemental batman.  That just makes me mad on SO many levels.

Re: FFF

  • I flame that brandiwhatsherface in the "I judge" thread on SB yesterday for saying that people develop addictions because they don't have enough self control to stop, and that adults should realize before they start doing things like smoking cigarettes that they are likely to become addicted to them. As far as cigarettes, a ton of people start smoking as teenagers as a result of peer pressure when they're too young to think like rational adults, and for things like drugs and alcohol, people usually turn to those things when something else is very wrong in their lives, as a method to try to escape. Nobody says, "Gee, I think I'd like to start smoking crack because that looks like fun and I don't care that I'll become addicted and ruin my life and put my loved ones through hell." And once you do become addicted to something, it's highly unlikely that you can "just stop." I know it's a cross board flame, but I figure enough people here post over there to know what I'm talking about.

I flame the newbs who have not lurked.  I know I don't have a lot of posts to my name and I'm not a 'reg', but I've luked a LOT before posting.  I know the tone of these boards.  It ain't wedding bee, kids.  Rainbows and sunshine are only appropriate if the OP is actually following the rules of etiquette.

That whole post was a shiiit show, how anyone on a wedding website could expect we (collective we) would validate, still getting married after she was having an affair, without first telling her soon to be husband the situation.  Talk about blindsiding him should he ever find out.  Wrong on so many levels.

    You stole my flame :)
But yes.  She seemd really insensitive with that.  It really irked the shiit out of me.  Just now too she asked DMill if she had IVF (because we keep joking that she's pregnant with twins and not just one).  I don't get why someone would flat out ask someone if they had IVF or not.  She seems like she's really insensitive, which sucks, cuz before yesterday I had a really good opinion of her.

So fucking annoying. I flame thurmanpowell it was like trying to talk to a brick wall.

Also Redhead and her whole everyone needs to do a DNA test. That thread was all about her being a lawyer, and it's getting old.

I flamed her that night, but i'll flame her again.  That was so obnoxious.
  • Yes, Habs, yes they are.  And it's completely idiotic.

I don't get the flaming of Redhead for bringing up being a lawyer.  She was giving her perspective on the situation.  I feel like a lot of people jump on her because of her sig, and I think that's silly.  I'm not trying to be Captain-Save-a-Red, but she keeps getting flamed or made fun of for her signature, and I don't get it.  There are way worse sigs out there (zulty?)

God I hated that thread though.

  • I never understood the redhead stuff people talked about, but yea, the DNA thread she made me so annoyed.  "well I'm in family law and ...........blahblahblah"   You're a lawyer, we got that.

You could just come into a post and say, "I believe everyone should get a DNA test, there's just too much shady out there in the world, plus it'll protect you later on" then that's one thing.  No need to lead with, I'm a lawyer.
  • To me, it's really that Redhead brings up that she's a lawyer all the time.  She even brought DNA testing into the sleeping-with-FFIL thread on CC the same night.  We get it.  She's super smart.  She can stop trying to prove it all the time.
  • I don't know what DNA thread you guys are talking about though.

I get this, and I agree with this.  I just don't think she needs to lead in with, "I'm a lawyer".

Like I said though, this was the first post of hers that I ever noticed it and was annoyed by it.  So I can't really talk about other instances everyone else seems to see.

DJ - I hear ya.  I had no problem reading the OP.  It didn't make my head explode.  Yes, poor grammar is annoying often, but in that thread it didn't really make much of a difference and the OP didn't need everyone harping on her for it.

ooooh, I just wandered to WP and there is a beauty of a thread there.  If this (<--clicky) isn't MUD, this OP has single handedly THE most interesting poster in a while:

I had the same thought process skimming through there.

Aisle vs isle drives me up a wall. If I made a mistake like that, I'd want people to point it out to me but I know some people don't feel that way. Correcting someone on their grammar while not using proper grammar and capitalization yourself is just silly. Way to invalidate your point.

I don't either. and I work in a law firm.  I phrased my post poorly.  I feel like she feels the need to prove how smart she is and part of that for her is making sure everyone knows that she's a lawyer.
