Re: FFF

  • I confess that I'm in my office shaking right now too (you have company, Opal).

I had a dissertation defense scheduled on June 17.  My advisor emailed me an hour ago wanting to push it back a month.  He wants me to call him to discuss, but I am so angry and frustrated now, and I lack the guts to call him.  I already called FI in tears.  I just don't know what to do.
  • TR, I'm making lasagna for Easter because it won't make a big mess and I'm so tired of cleaning up messes.

B, somehow I have a feeling that hitting H on the head with a big book will not improve our sex life.  ;)
  • Birdie - lots of hugs.  I now feel like a huge tool for crying about my thesis.
  • Pink - neither my mom nor I are big cooks and H's & my kitchen is TINY so we decided it wasn't worth the hassle.

  • Meg, that sucks, and I'm sorry.

Hopefully there's an easy fix. My advisors have a nasty habit of calling up and saying that they're unhappy with an entire section of it, and when we talk it's really like they didn't agree with a single sentence or number, and then we're back on track. It's incredibly stressful until I find out what's up.

I hope you get some good news! And if not, hang in there. It'll be over soon.
  • Birdie I'm sending you hugs from the interwebz.  I hope you can feel them.

I confess/want to say that I feel weird about not doing anything for Easter this year.  I feel weird and kind of like an outcast.  I'm not sure if it's because we are wanting to convert to Judaism or if it's because we have less people around here to celebrate it with.

  • TR- One of the main reasons I never work out is because I HATE showering and getting ready twice in one day.  So unless I go first thing in the morning, or late or night with nothing to do, I never go.  And our gym isn't open late enough for me, so I literally just never go.  My only "workouts" are playing soccer anymore.

Pink- I paid $60 to fill mine from a quarter tank 2 days ago, and I'm already down to a half tank.  H just said he has been hearing or reading that gas could be up to $6/gallon by July.  I might just puke,

  • DNB, H told me the same thing about gas prices and my boss decided to be such a tool bag and won't let anyone work from home (besides himself which he is doing today).  Our office is 3 people, including myself.  Every summer we all rotate working from home one day a week or whenever necessary to save on gas and time off.  I am so fed up with his stupid management style that I have barely said 5 words to him this week.  I can't stand his greasy face anymore.

  • I flame my FI for not boycotting Easter with me.  Also because of that now I have to run 7 miles ALONE on Sunday :(

Also, he lied to his mom, AGAIN.  He always lies to her and it drives me nuts.  It really bothers me because for example: He told his mom that I was not going to church with them because I am going to church on Easter with my parents.
Fact: I am sleeping in, then going running on sunday, followed by brunch :)

So these lies will involve me, and every once in a great while, his mom will say something and I end up calling out his lie to his mom.  Because I have asked him not to lie to his mom when it involves me because a) its stupid to lie to your mom as an adult, b) I never know what he told her, c)I end up being the person caught in YOUR lie, and I feel that it makes me look bad, d) I don't believe in lying.

The Catholic Church is actually against condoms as well. But I believe it is FAM that allows the use of condoms during the fertile period of the woman's cycle. Whereas the Catholic church & NFP teach abstinence during that time if the couple does not wish to conceive.

[QUOTE]In Response to Re: FFF : Yeah that would drive me nuts.  That's a shitton of overdraft fees, that freaking blows.  <strong>Do you have a savings account with the bank that you can use as a backup for the checking so it automatically pulls from savings instead of charging you fees?

We're gonna switch from our bank to my credit union because they offer an "overdraft account" that lets you just pull the amount you overdraft and then you have 30 days to pay it back (after 30 days you get charged interest on the amount), among other reasons.

  • Pink I'm definitely lucky that I do work from home.  Whenever I do have to go to the office though, which is like once a week or once every 2 weeks, it's at least a quarter tank.  Effing Jeep with your horrible gas mileage.  H's car gets better MPG, but he has to put in higher quality gas, so it basically evens out.

I write my dissertation/thesis.  The defense of it is when I give an oral presentation and my committee (4 faculty members) gets to ask me questions, etc - i.e., I "defend" my work.  If you pass, you have a PhD!

It's pretty stressful getting the dissertation done, and I am really ready for it to be over. So the idea of having it go a month longer (and be only a few weeks before my wedding) is super frustrating.  And while the defense itself is stressful, in my department, everyone passes.

...and I tried to call my advisor, and he said he had to call me back.  ARGH.
