Re: boring Friday night...

  • I think I want to drink something now too.  What are you drinking?  I'm debating between red wine and beer.  Or I could go for the hard stuff.

dnb, I can't believe you just said that in stellaella's thread.  You cheeky thing.
  • is anyone in a great finacial position to have kids?

  • I am currently drinking Frangelico in coffee :-)

It is still the middle of the day here.

  • Haha mica, I thought it had to be said.

aMrs- she is just off her rocker and drives me absolutely insane.  I vented about her in page 2.  If I talk again I'll get all full of rage again.

<div>Probably not, but we want to pay off at least one car (finish in June) and our credit card bills, hopefully without touching wedding money - plan is 12 months if we can stick to our budget.  </div>

I get what you are saying KJB. MIL says if we wait to be financially able to have kids we will never have them. It's just that right now we already struggle to get by and we can barely save as it is. I don't think bringing a kid into the equation would be a good idea. Plus, I want to finish my grad degree first, but I know that may not happen before we have kids.
  • I want more beer.

    dnb - wow

kjb - we are in an ok position - we'd be WAY better in four years but then my eggies would be about to expire.  So - I guess nobody is?

  • yeah, for real, if we wait til we pay off our cc bills, we'll be 67.  i know my cc bills are entirely my fault, but damn.

  • You're funny when you're angry, dnb, I wouldn't mind reading the rant again.

We'll have to see if she comes back to defend herself.

Missy, I'm sort of excited about the NFP, but I'm older than you (and currently my family is nearby), so I think an accident wouldn't be so bad for me.
  • Yeah, we have one cc that we are paying off. That really isn't the issue, H loans are where the problem lies. They are just so much of our monthly income. Well, I guess it wouldn't be so bad if I made more money, but there isn't much I can do about that given where we live. Plus, I would like to have a house first, but don't know when that is going to happen either.
  • Haha thanks Mica.

  • I know I have to be thankful for what we do have, but I just get so depressed sometimes seeing how far behind we are other people our age. Frustrating to say the least.
  • Alright ladies, I am off to take a shower and do the weigh in. I will check back in a few...
  • We both contributed to ours - actually, it's almost all honeymoon related, and my parents are supposed to be pretty much covering a lot of it.  They said they would give us X amount of dollars for the wedding - we asked them to give it to us as a wedding gift as we wanted to pay for the wedding ourselves.  Then we pretty much used that as a budget for the HM (but went over, and then spending money while we were there and stuff...) Dad asked if he could give it to us in January for tax purposes.  Since the HM is on 0% cards, we said that was fine.
  • Andy, your eggs are hardly expiring.  You're still in your 20s.

My BIL is having the ILs' first grandchild soon.  He's 40, his wife is 36.  H is 37 (and I'm almost 33), so while I think the parts still work, I don't want us to be too old when the kids are growing up.  Since medical training takes forever, we've only been making our "grown up" salary for a couple years, though, so I'd like to save a little more before we TTC so I can switch to part-time and we can buy a house.

Planning to reproduce is such a pain.
  • I know.  Sometimes I hate being responsible :).
  • Yeah, that is perhaps the problem. We paid for the entire wedding (with the exception of some help from both of our Grandma's) ourselves, including the HM. That blew a good portion of my/our savings. While I don't regret it bc it was a great day, I just wish we would have cut the guest list even more or something. I am just glad we don't have any wedding debt except for a little on the cc.
  • they are good now...but H won't be making his "grown up salary"  (i love it) for four more years and if I waited until then it would be hard to have the 3 kids that I want.

  • I am really heading to the shower now. Be back in a bit.
  • I am 31 - and will be 32 before we start TTC.  I would like to have 2 kids.  I don't want an only child.
  • Andy, go check FB.

Hmmm, why hasn't stella come back to that thread?

  • i want 2.4 kids - isn't that the average?  i like to be average.

  • Just a heads up...It doesn't get easier once you're older and making a grown up salary.  Grown up bills tend to come along.

If I had to do it over again, I would have started a "baby fund" in my late 20's.

  • If stellaella disappears tonight and there's a new LA lawyer with a lot of wedding questions, I guess we'll know our answer.
  • We want to have 3. Its probably not the best time for us to be having children but everything is getting paid off on time and isn't ever late. It would be better if we had a savings. We had one when I got pregnant but we spent all of it having to fix the car. There are things that just happen at times. Had we not have had to fix the car then our savings and our bills would be better than they are now.

  • Haha I think the fact that she was just answering and then disappeared is proof enough for me.

  • yes I totally agree.

does anyone here watch real housewives of beverly hills?
