Good evening! I'm sitting getting my hair done. They give me an iPad to play with and red wine, so I'm good. Fi got the invitation samples today. (he designed it all) They turned out great! I'm excited to get those out in the next week.

That's pretty much awesome. I wish I got an iPad and wine at my salon!

• Good evening everyone!

I just skimmed the last page. I see we're talking babies and their supplies. I know lots about that stuff! Way more than I knew there was to know, if that makes sense.
• Yeah, I love this place. It's only my 4th time going and I don't think I'll go anywhere else!

Oh, duh. Before Taryn was born, my MIL put together a baby first-aid kit for us. I didn't think anything of it at the time, but as we came to find that we needed stuff from it, I was so grateful for it. It was, by far, the best gift we received, and something that I now do for my friends.
My personal suggestions are:

Rectal Thermometer / small vial of Vaseline
Aquaphor healing ointment (good for everything - dry skin, eczema, diaper rash)
Simethicone Gas Drops (Mylicon)
Infant's Tylenol (drops - for fever)
Infant's Motrin (drops - to be used after 6 months old)
A&D ointment (for diaper rash prevention)
Desitin (for diaper rash treatment)
Baby orajel (for teething)
1/2 percent Hydrocortisone cream (for eczema)
Bordeaux baby kisses chapstick
Dry Packets of Pedialyte (4 individual servings per pack)
Cornstarch Based Baby Powder
Holy Crap. We survived the first year!
Jess, probably so. My 3 year old nephew loves for people to read to him, but he's perfectly fine sitting and looking at books on his own, too. I've never noticed him getting bored with a book because it's too short. Course, my sister reads to both my toddler nephews before bed, and the books are never long enough - mostly because they know when the story ends, they have to go to sleep.
Posted by Holly4212011
Not to be like, braggy or whatever, but my nephew started reading simple things when he was 3, so he liked longer books so he could find more words that he knew, especially since some board books are like, CAT. DOG. Once he had gotten that down, he was like, "Now what?!" :)
• Baby accessories are scary.

• I am so excited to register for baby things. Way more excited about that than registering for the wedding.

Speaking of, when should I do that? I started one at BB&B, but I have hardly anything on it. I kind of want to have the registry deleted and start one at Macy's and maybe one other place.

• I don't think I ever really destroyed books, I loved them too much, and I still do! I recently found a copy of the book I would make my mom read to me until it was memorized. I'm not sure why I liked it so much now that I read it as an adult. I gave it to my mom toread to my niece.

• Angel I would probably start registering in the next month or so. I started around August or September of last year, i think. Once you send out STDs, you never know if people will want to look up gifts to send early or whatever.

• Tristan loves books. LOVES books. For about a month, he's been walking to the bookshelf, pulling random books down, carrying them to me, and turning around to sit in my lap. I love that he loves books, but I certain ones are about to be "lost" because I cannot stand to read them any more, since he insists that I read them 5x in a row.

• Wait back up. I must have missed something. Are you pregly, Jesse?
image
• Edie, I have no idea, but it's probably not until at least November. Maybe October, if my BMs want to get it out of the way before the holidays.

Musu, that's pretty much what I was thinking. Now that the bar exam will be over, FI will have some time to do wedding stuff with me. I'm sure he's thrilled.

• Aw silly brothers. My brothers are significantly younger than me so I'm fairly certain that unless they procreate in college, we will not have children at a similar time.
image
• We had my shower at the end of October, Angel. It just made sense since Nov and Dec get clogged with holiday stuff. My bach party was the end of Dec I think.
image
• Speaking of showers, I'm having my first one this weeken. My MOH and her mother are the cohorts. I've gotten one a nice bottle of wine and the other some fun chocolates as she doesn't drink. Besides a TY note, do you think I should get anything else as a TY gift? We're all pretty low key people.

• Dumdum, I think those sound like nice gifts. I don't think you need to get them anything else.

• Hi. I had an annoying day of annoying parents that seem to want to make my job even harder. Oh well, it's over now! And I get to sleep in an hour tomorrow. That always makes my day better. And I have ice cream.

• Hello! I skipped a few pages, but I'm going back to catch up.

I'm pretty excited - I get to work a fundraising event next week for the Congressman I intern for, and the House Majority Leader is going to be there, so I feel fancy.

Angel, my first shower was 3 months before the wedding, but we started registering before our engagement party which was a year before the wedding. I'd say go right ahead and register :)
• I'm getting ready to catch up with the evening thread, but just wanted to say "Hi" and I've only got 3 STDs left...FI has their addresses on his work computer, so he's been tasked with bringing them home tonight.

I'm having a salad for dinner and the girls are having home made pizza. Apparently, my 17 year old has taken a liking to cooking. I'm not complaining. I just wish she liked cooking other things besides pizza and eggs. She does make a mean egg and potato omelet, though.
• Sleeping in does make the day better! I was so tired today that I actually napped at work. I never do that! It wasn't a great nap because I was paranoid L would wake up and I wouldn't hear him but still.

Evening! FI made dinner for us before I got home from work & tonight we are going to spend time looking at methods of transportation and hotels for europe. I have the day off tomorrow as well so I am looking forward to just relaxing at home since i have absolutely no plans.

Leisel - That does sound fancy!

Angel - I think you can register at any point now, you're wedding is in 5 months or so & most of the people I know register much before that. =)

• Hi! I got dressed in work out clothes and then took a nap. I feel like I should be ashamed...

I've done that a few times, but I don't sleep that well for the same reason.

• Yeah, I want to nap at work too.

Confession? When i worked overnights, I dozed off quite a bit. But really, with two overnights, 1-2 second shifts, and 2 first shifts ALL IN THE SAME WEEK EVERY WEEK, who could blame me?

J, I definitely don't blame you. Having so much variance in your schedule definitely isn't good for your sleep schedule!

Loopy, I was supposed to workout tonight too and that didn't happen. At least you can use being pregnant as an excuse ;)
