Re: Good Evening

• Now I want to eat those cookie bars I got from work today.....not a cheesecake fan, but I love the food at Cheesecake Factory!

• Good luck Tracy.  Have you tried Zillow.com?  They have rental listings too and seem to be more reputable than Craigslist.
• Thanks Tracy! I gave up looking on craigslist too. Someone here suggested Zillow to help find a house rental.
I had laryngitis once.  It was the worst 3 days of my life, and the best 3 days of everyone else's.  It was Christmas too.
Posted by J&K10910
<div>My parents were out visiting during the worst of the laryngitis (I went for 10 days not being able to speak louder than a whisper).  My mother LOVED it.  She could talk as much as she wanted, and I couldn't argue with her.</div>
• Tracy, what about looking in the newspapers for places to rent? I did that last time I moved and had much better results.

• Loopy -- that's a good H.

Lizzie -- treating Alzheimer's patients is really rewarding.  There's interesting neuro and psych pathology, and their families tend to be so grateful.  Don't knock it until you've tried it.  But trauma stuff is fun.  Just keep an open mind.  And we need good nurses in every field, so you'll be wanted whatever you decide to do.
• Now I want some Godiva Chocolate Cheesecake, yum!

Well so far things with the cats are going okay, the couch has finally dried and seems to look the way it did.

• I'm so glad that Lactaid was invented....I adore cheese cake...with strawberries.

My two favorite desserts: Bread Pudding with Rum sauce and a cup of coffee & chicory

and cheese cake with a cup of coffee and chicory....Community Coffee, New Orleans Blend.

Oh, Tracy!  I don't know if you've ever been to NOLA, but please go to Cafe Du Monde and have some begniets and cafe au lait...you won't be sorry!  Oh, and try to get to Central Grocery and have a muffelata (it's in the French Quarter)...I'm a native, so I love being able to show off my city. Oh, and if you are a beer drinker, try the Abita beer..Purple Haze is good and so is Turbo Dog. If you like darker beers, the Amber is awesome. Abita is a local brew...
Our new apartment is 6 minutes from Cheesecake Factory.  Our old apartment was 2 hours.  Apparently FI dreamed he had to get a second job just to support my cheesecake habit.

Oh gosh H would have to get a second job if we lived that close to the Cheesecake Factory!

I feel like your mom and my mom would get along great.  I kept trying to whisper and talk the little bit I could an dmy  mom would say "Oh, honey, don't do that, it will just make it worse!" while smirking at me like a little brat.  I couldn't imagine not  being able to do more than whisper for 10 days.  How awful.

• I wish I could send my mom down to work for you, Mica.  She's been unable to find a good spot since her urologist retired 15 years ago.  She's done pretty much everything, and now she's doing community care, but she puts up with way too much shiiit for not nearly as much money as she's worth (granted, I'm biased, but still).

• Yeah, I didn't totally realize how expensive their cheesecake was and when she told me the total I was like "wha???"  But then the "whatever Fruit Loop wants" kicked in :).  I don't know if it's a true craving yet, but I've been thinking about cheesecake for like 4 days now.

Lizzie, I went to New Orleans last year with a friend and I told her I wanted to get there.  But she didn't like/understand anything of what was going on or how to order and said we had to go somewhere else.  I was a little (or maybe a lot) miffed, because I had heard such great things about it.

That is disappointing!

H doesn't like Cheesecake, I don't understand him!

• There's a serious shortage of good nurses down here.  Of course, I hear that FL pays nurses pretty poorly, so that might be why few people choose to work here.  :/

I've never even heard about that.  I'll check it out now, thanks!  H replied to a few listings and he either didn't get responses to them or gets the "I'm in West Africa" scam email.  I've wasted so much time on there.

On the plus side, H put our CA house up on craigslist and got several inquiries within the first day and his mom showed the house to a couple of them already. The first guy loved it and he's a friend of the guy who owns the house next door.

• H doesn't like cheesecake either. So he gets a piece of chocolate/chocolate cake. Decadent.
• But I'd probably love to have your mom as my nurse, J.  A well-qualified nurse with urology experience would be so useful.  So many of my patients have urinary complaints, and most of my nursing staff isn't comfortable doing in-office catheterization.  I miss my California nurses.
• Yeah, my mom worked in FL for awhile before she married my dad and came back to get her masters, and she said that considering the cost of living, the pay wasn't comparable to what she got up here (and this is WI we're talking about, so that's pretty impressive).

H doesn't like cake at all, though if he has to eat it he'll eat chocolate. He loves pie!

• I like pie.
• Would you believe that 90% of the nurses I've come into contact with at Mayo are LPNs?  Definitely not knocking LPNs, at all, but it just surprises me with how highly qualified you have to be to get a job doing anything else at Mayo--I can't believe they don't require RNs.
