Sunday Evening

Re: Sunday Evening

  • Ooh.. there it is.. Thanks for the tip.  That's annoying.
  • Angel, he's a goldendoodle?! We're trying to decide between one of those or a bichon for our next dog in a couple years. I had no idea their temperament was that different from a labradoodle.
  • If I take my Singulair Fox doesn't bother me. If I don't take my allergy pill and he snuggles near my face and neck, I get hives. I love him too much to care.
  • There was just a commercial on tv with a horse in it and now FI is saying he wants to own horses if we ever have a lot of money. I'm really not that into horses, I told him he can get one but I don't want one, and he's saying no, I have to have one too so we can ride them together. I used to want a horse when I was little, but now I feel like they're a lot of work.

<div>Well, generally people that have horses just to ride pay for them to be taken care of. A friend had a horse and all she did was exercise it two or three times a week.</div>

Horses definitely are a lot of work. I love them though -- I want horses someday too. :)

My mom went to a psychic with her friends a few weeks ago while they were on vacation. Apparently this psychic told her that her daughter would be very successful, and so would J, and that she wouldn't have to worry about us. So this means I don't have to worry about finals now, right? :P

That's just what I've heard, I don't know if it's true. FI said something about how golden retrievers are less rambunctious than labs so they make for a better mix with the poodle, but I don't know if that's actually true. Tucker is so sweet, although sometimes he won't leave me alone when I'm over there, which is kind of annoying, but overall he's a great dog.

Yeah, that's what he said we would do. I guess that wouldn't be so bad, although I don't know how to ride a horse and I don't have much desire to learn. I guess I would try it out for him though. I'm fairly sure this whole thing will never actually happen though.

She probably means a successful lawyer, so you should probably still study for your finals :)

  • I would love to own a horse one day. I think I have finally convinced FI that we will end up living on a farm with lots of dogs, a horse, and a mini pig. He just accepts it now.

Yeah... you're probably right. ;) I'm going back and forth between researching for a memo I'm writing for my internship and taking practice questions for my crim pro final. This is what I've been doing all weekend. Thrilling!

  • My parents have horses. They are not very fun. They are expensive, dirty, stinkers. They are pretty and it's nice to see them grazing in the pasture, but so not my thing. If you could just ride them, sure, that would be awesome. My parents spend a ton of time (way more than riding) cleaning their stalls, feeding them, moving pasture, fencing pasture, watering pasture, picking up poop, etc.

The only way I would have horses was if we boarded them and somebody else did all the dirty work. Even then, it's expensive. Debbie horse downer over here.

  • I don't remember, though I'm sure you said it, Angel, but what year is your FI in law school?

  • I have no desire to have a horse.  It'd be fun to ride maybe once or twice a year though.

<div>There are places that will bring you around mountain trails on your horse - I think they're generally very tame ones and very easy paths - but I would think it would be fun.</div>

He doesn't have anything lined up yet, but his dad has some connections so hopefully something will pan out there. The job market here for lawyers is tough right now. He likes transactional practice, and civil and criminal litigation. He ideally wants to go into the Marine Corps for JAG for one committment term to get some experience, but there's a lot of red tape he has to deal with for that, so it may or may not work out. I'm praying for it not working out, which probably makes me awful, but whatever. He wouldn't be able to do that until next summer at the earliest though, so if he's already settled in a decent law job, he likely wouldn't pursue it.

  • Yeah, my grandparents lived next door to a ranch here in CO when I was growing up.  We'd always go out for a day with a guide whenever we came out to visit.

I hear ya on the job market, I totally get that. I'm scrambling for something for the summer. It sucks! JAG sounds like a lot of work. I'm too much of a wuss to go through Basic, so I couldn't do it. I understand why you wouldn't want it to work out -- that is a huge commitment for the both of you!

  • No Angel, I totally see where you are coming from. H's dad and brother are cops, my dad is a cop, and H is a correction's officer. A few weeks ago H was thinking of going back to the academy to become a cop and lord knows I love the life my dad gave our family, but I really do not want H to become a cop unless he feels strongly about it. I felt really bad for feeling that way, but I understand.

I can only imagine how you must feel about that kind of thing! My younger brother is applying for college to attend this fall, and he is gonna go for a law enforcement degree. I want him to do what he wants, but it also makes me feel uneasy. I feel like I will worry about him all the time if he is a cop. But, thats just me being a selfish protective big sister.

  • Lawyers are officers, so they don't go through basic, they go to Officer Candidate School. I think it's still hard as shiit, but they don't get screamed at so much since they're not really considered grunts.
