I think it's bullsh*t that you can have a scholarship that's only available to black people, but you can't have one that's only available to white people. That also goes for beauty pagents, TV stations, clubs and fraternities and sororities, all of that.

I disagree. There are many factors involved to decide if tanning will give you breast cancer. You should know your family history and your own personal risk involved.

If I have no breast cancer in my family history, and have skin that is used to sun, then I dont see the issue.

But if I have found sketchy moles, or burn easily, they yeah, tanning probably isnt ok for me.

Oh, I just thought of one. I judge nosy cashiers. There is one cashier at my local grocery store that I avoid because she asks too many damn questions. "Who are you buying this for?" "Must not have been shopping in awhile!" "Lots of chips and junk food, having a party?" "You sure this license is real? You look too young to be buying this!"

Hey lady, shut the eff up and scan my food. I don't need to tell you why I'm buying my groceries, or who they are for.

I just think it's silly to promote tanning as a way to prevent one kind of cancer when it's been known to cause another kind. Kind of seems counter-productive to me.

We went to the Muppets there a couple weeks ago, and it isn't bad if you go during the week. It wasn't any different than any other theater I go too. Plus I get cheap tickets now, so it was worth it.

I can see that. I just dont see how 5 min a few times a month in a low powered bed is any different than being at the beach for a few hours with no block on.

My low D is the worst in the winter because I cant get enough natural sun. That being said, I dont use tanning beds because I have sketchy moles, so its not really my fight.

Does it affect your mood at all? My mom gets incredibly depressed in the winter months. My parents started doing more traveling to warmer climates in the winter several years ago and getting out into the sun helps her tremendously.

Well, I just found out about it last month, but I would say yes. I dont have as much energy in the winter months.

Oprah did a special on it. She has low D too and her Dr told her to go on a vacation 2 times a year and lay in the sun.

I used to double tan as a teen meaning tan twice a day in the high powered beds. I am lucky I have never had cancer or really bad skin.

Chels- I watched this documentary on either HBO or Showtime called "The Lottery". It was about the charter schools in Harlem. It was fascinating.

Im not involved in education, so my view on it is from an outside perspective, but some of the struggles the kids in the public schools were having was really sad and avoidable if the DOE got their act together. You can probably find the doc ondemand.

I got asked what kind of dog I had once when the checker was ringing up some treats. But if I was asked if I get bad cramps while the checker was ringing up tampons, I'd probably be pissed.

Yeah I used to tan all the time at my parent's house (where I lived) because we have a pool. I didn't use sunscreen after I was old enough to be putting it on myself. So from the ages of about 13-20ish, I never wore sunscreen. And went to those high powered tanning beds a ridiculous amount. :(
