Well, I'm glad I missed AYG since it was all love-festy and about cats. I second Blue about love fests before AYG. I thought this last night, but I was having fun in the love thread. I have two small TK grievances. First, I was annoyed by MC's "J&K and Nebb why don't you loooovvvveeee meee?" yesterday. I'm mainly pissed at myself. Consistently, I have said that while I abhor MC's teaching practices and use of the n-word, she comes across as a sweet person and as long as it wasn't in relation to those two issues, I'd interact peacefully with her. That post last night was manipulative and it made me rethink my position on MC. Previously, I thought she was just ridiculous and a bad teacher, but trying to be nice. Now I'm annoyed. My second grievance is with Celles. I just find her posts to be sanctimonious and obnoxious. I get that a lot of people love her and I do find her funny from time to time, but whenever she's arguing a point with someone, I just find her posts to be condescending and "holier than thou", which I can't stand.

I agree with you on the MC point, but disagree on the point. I enjoy Celles pposts, and have learned a lot about agnostics from her. She knows her shitt, and explains it well.
Oh I forgot the "Don't take the Christ out of Christmas" garbage that MC was going on about, especially when we find out that she identifies as Christian and doesn't want anyone to use the phrase Xmas, but knows nothing about the history of the Church or the birth of Jesus. I think she just follows the popular viewpoint and hangs on to it, as also evidenced by her response in the cartoon thread.

• I once wrote an article in HS about people taking the Christ from Christmas by replacing it with an X. Come to find out, X was representative of the Greek letter chi, which repesents Christ. So putting an X there merely shorthands the name of Christ, not 'x-ing' it out.

I'm not saying every single thing she posts is ridiculous or annoying. I'm saying if someone disagrees with her, I find her to be less interested in seeing another person's point of view and more intersted in proving herself right. I just see it as obnoxious when someone is unable/unwilling to see another point of view (specifically, my most recent annoyance was the Taniatroll situation, when instead of acknowledging why people felt the need to address the situation, Celles said, I know I would always ignore a troll. I found that obnoxious because she wasn't around for the whole story, didn't understand the situation, ignored my explanation and only argued further. This is too long for parentheses :P)

• Huh. I've never found Celles to be condescending or smug or anything like that. I do think she is consistently thoughtful, analytical, and thorough in her responses.
• I am not sure how one could identify as a Christian and not know anything about the birth of Jesus. As a Christian, I find that particular part of the Bible pretty important.

The cartoon stuff is uber dumb. Especially the way the statuses evolved:

"Hey! Change your picture to something else! That was started by pedophiles trying to pure poor innocent children."
"Hey! nevermind! That was a hoax. Cartoon picture game back on!"
My TK related grievance is just the general stupidity on some of the other boards (ie, CC, CI, & WP). Someone posted - I think yesterday -- a question on how to approach her BM about getting her dress altered; she thought her BMwas going to have too much cleavage showing and that would take the spotlight off of her.
Posted by jcbsjr
My best friend was really self-conscious about her boobs (she eventually got implants). She refused to pick v-neck/sweetheart necklines for us since she thought we'd look better than she did. Yeah, I side-eyed that and the hideous prom dresses we wore. I still love her, but seriously. I had to laugh when I showed her the possible BM dresses for my wedding and she sighed in relief. She thought I'd try to get revenge, which, honestly, sounds more like me :P.
• My ex-roommate did the pity birthday thing too. She invites a bunch of people to her birthday, tells us she's poor and can't afford a lot but wants everyone to go to an expensive restaurant and then go to a bar. She told me, before going out that she hopes everyone buys her lots of drinks and her food. I didn't go.

This is true for me, too. I didn't "get" you in the beginning, Blue, and I don't think we'll ever see eye-to-eye on the political issues, but I definitely enjoy chatting with you now. I definitely do not think you're stupid. :)

Nates: to be fair, you said something in that thread about wanting to know how those of us who were advocating ignoring the troll would respond if she insulted us the same way she did you. When I said that I would either ignore her because her opinion was meaningless, or spin her insults into some kind of irreverent and self-deprecating joke, I was responding to that sentiment -- not telling you what I think you should have done or claiming that I would somehow have handled it "better."

I didn't much care for what I perceived as an overly defensive response (it almost seemed as if you were wishing TM's brand of vitriol on us simply because you had to endure it), but I understood that you were upset by the entire situation and let it go.

That said: my FI would agree with you insofar that I always have to be right. ;)

ETA, because I just reread your grievance: I WAS around for the entire situation. I just don't post in a thread unless I have something worthwhile to add, so my sole contribution was a "Don't feed the trolls" emoticon.

I guess we just don't get each other then. I seriously can't believe that you would think I would ever wish an attack on someone else just because it happened to me. I'm really surprised (and hurt if I'm being honest) that you (or anyone) would believe that of me. I don't think I've ever come across as wishing bad upon anyone here and I'm surprised you think I'm such a bitch.

I did read your post as "I'd handle it better" and I read you sig the same way. And FWIW, it wasn't just that thread in which I read that attitude. That's just my most recent (and obviously personal, since I was there) example.

With that said, I'm done with the whole TM debacle.

My signature? Dude. This is something that was said about me (and Any and Roxy and Nebb) on the May 2011 board when the whole non-invasion invasion went down. I'm the hillbilly white trash snark brat.

Copying it into my sig after the May 2011 mod deleted it is an example of the whole spinning-it-into-a-joke thing I was talking about. It was mean-spirited, but far too ridiculous to be taken seriously. Kind of like someone telling someone as pretty as you that she's ugly. Tongue out

I get that. That's the same reason a bunch of us originally had TM lines in our sigs. It was a joke to us, at first, which is the same reason we even acknowledged her the second time (and then it spun out of control and now I'm talking abotu it again ). In any case, I'd never wish any BS upon you, whether I agree with/like you or not.

And thank you for the compliment.
• Ok, I know this is a little late, buuutttt...

M&M, that whole size-6 thing started with me. I didn't mean it the way I ended up writing it. It was more that CW complains that she's fat, but eats like crap, and refuses to go to the gym, meanwhile I got a membership to HER gym, under the guise that she and I would work out often. Andplusalso, she's constantly telling me that I shouldn't eat that kid's size ice cream (for example), while she's scarfing down a large sundae. I really don't know why I felt the need to include her pants size. That was really insensitive, and unnecessary.

I hate when people complain about their situation, but do nothing to change it. This CW is the same girl who will complain to me that she's had to use the bathroom for 3 hours, but never called for a stand-by. Umm, that's what they're there for??

That's all I've got.
• My dog got her period last night. I am chasing her around because she keeps ripping her "sanitary diaper" off. She is also crying and barking at the door because apparently she is a big hoar now. I wish baking her a cake would make her feel better - that's what FI does for me and it always works.

That's my only grievance for now.
