Evening Thread?

I'm 4 glasses of wine in, and all this bacon talk has me wondering if I'm going to have to start the kitchen up again. I get hungry when I drink..

<div>Don't pan fry and drink, it's dangerous. I got pretty drunk once and decided I wanted chicken tenders. But I couldn't drive (obviously) so I made some. I washed my hands while the oil was heating up. I didn't dry them well enough and several largeish drops of water went into the pan and there was oil spitting everywhere. Not my best night. The chicken tenders did actually come out okay, but I almost burned down the house in the process.</div>

oot - can my miles really just disappear? i mean i don't have 100s of thousands since we've used some to go to peru and napa, but I don't want to lose what's left.

I think i'm going to hawaii whether or not H is going with me.

i shoudl go to europe, that would use more.

We just got home from the Evet. Our kitty with urinary issues is having problems again, probably due to the stress and heat this week not having A/C. For the Evet we have to drive an hour up the mountain, but they have a clinic near our house they'll deliver him to when he's released. The vet also said he would be better off in a home where he's an only kitty because he's bullied. Life sucks.

And, the rear brakes locked up on my Oldsmobile tonight. So, it's broken and in the driveway. I have my SUV here and DH is here with his car. So, we made the trip up in his car.

What a wonderful Saturday night.

Steffi, I'm sorry about your cat, that really sucks. I think Mari had to bring her cat back to her mom's bc she wasn't doing well with her H's cat. Poke, I'm so happy you're back! I mean, it sucks that your H is gone, but I'm still glad to have you back. We'll have to catch up.

<div>I actually did start my apartment on fire a few years ago with grease! I was making chicken tenders also and walked away for a few minutes while the oil heated up. It got too hot and there was a surface fire. If I wouldn't have panicked and logically thought about it, I could have put a lid on it and there would have been no issues. Instead, I dropped a huge cup of water on it and it blew up in my face. Luckily there was only some damage to the kitchen area and I wasn't hurt but it was really scary (and embarrassing). </div>

brandi - I started a fire in my dorm room in college when my darling roommates left a bottle of vodka in the broiler (yes, really, they left ALCOHOL in the OVEN) and I turned it on.

That was fun. somehow I was able to put it out and keep the smoke detectors from going off.

My sister started a grease fire once frying pierogies. She got pissed when I ruined dinner and put it out with the fire extinguisher.

I have seven. Five I inherited, he's one of the five. Two I have had since kittenhood.

He can live in the master suite here, but I'm allergic to cats, especially long haired kitties, and he's long haired. It's much better for me if I don't have cats sharing my bed.

Thanks for the well wishes. Hopefully Leo will be fine and will once again avoid a complete bladder blockage. If he doesn't completely block then we'll just have a few days of fluids and drugs for him.

I cook my bacon on the Foreman grill. The lid keeps the splatter from getting everywhere and the grease runs off into the tray so I like to think it's healthier

Yikes Brandi - I'm glad you weren't hurt! Fortunately none of the oil that erupted everywhere actually caught on fire. Scary stuff.

Angel - we will most definitely have to catch up. I have to say, the entire trip to the airport all I could think about was getting home and getting on TK. Unfortunately the only in town friend I have left seems to have decided to end our friendship so I kind of have no one to take my mind off things.

Heb- I went out that evening and got one of those fire extinguisher cans from the grocery store for the next time something happened.
