  • I'd say that "religious beliefs" are totally valid for shaping one's personal opinion regarding issues such as homosexuality.'

The problem is, imho, when a person doesn't recognize that religious beliefs should not influence the law. Gays are being denied legal rights based on religious beliefs, and the two should have nothing to do with one another.

Everyone here is set on their opinions, we can throw articles back and forth all day, noone's mind is going to change. I can read a pros article and won't get all offended about it so why can't some of you read the cons articles and not get all huffy about it ?

I agree with jasmineh7777 , a teacher should be penalized for being witnesses to bullying and not stopping it.
  • Why children need mothers: mothers excel in providing children with emotional security and in reading the physical and emotional cues of infants.

Really?! Because my (birth) "mother" gave me up at the second I was born so to say that another person (be it a woman or a man) could not fill the same role and offer emotionally security is bs.

And, for the record my ex (who is a total db) was very "in tune" with what our DD needed when she was an infant.
  • I believe doctor co-pays are too low for a majority of people.  The co-pay shouldn't be so high as to be prohibitive but high enough to prevent abuse of the system.

    Maybe $50 or $100.
  • I want some of East's Jesus juice.

We called that Purple Jesus. Because when you drank enough you'd see a purple Jesus and then in the morning you'd pray to him as you puked your guts up. Good times!  ETA: Mara, you can see Jesus tapdance sometimes when you drink this. Try it!

Agree, but maybe with provisions.  Like my insurance has a $150 copay for an ER visit... unless I'm admitted (i.e. the doctor agrees that I had a valid reason for showing up.)

I think it can be modified per type of doctor you are visiting.  This is in reference to people using their primary care physicians for every sniffle, cough, scrap, cut etc.  because they don't pay anything out of pocket so they don't understand the costs.  Just a moral hazard argument.

True, but you don't pray until the morning. When you're puking up your guts the night of the party, you're too drunk to pray; you just want him to keep tapdancing.

  • I found him! And no, not in a religious way.

    Oh, if only.

My H is actually the only guy I know who feels sorry for women with cramps. If I'm complaining of cramps he'll ask if I want some ice cream or a back massage. He's the best. My stepadad, on the other hand, just asks my mom when dinner will be ready.
  • Cew-You're wrong, Jesus breakdancing Christ is the mascot for God's Fan Club.
  • Is the Bible considered enough for you?
I had explained in my previous post that God intended for a man to be with a woman, if he wanted 2 men or 2 women to procreate, he would have made that possible.. For those who think my thoughts are antiquated, I explained that before, I was raised a certain way thinking certain things were wrong/right, just for fun: I asked 4 doctors here at the hospital I work at (different ages and races if that matters to you) what they thought about same-sex parents and they all said it's not 'normal' and one said and I quote 'it would be normal if we lived in san francisco' and scoffed.
  • CHRIST ON A CRACKER!

    (That. is. awesome.)

"Whatever East. You're just mad I RSVP'd "lame" to your pre-wedding sleepover."
  • Oh, well if 4 doctors here at your hospital agree, then they must be right.  Let's hear it for an unbiased sample!

[QUOTE]If we were back in 1970, Loop's comments may be about bi-racial couples. Maybe before that it would have been about the woman's right to vote. It's just the evolution of our society.  Sorry, Loop...i know they are your opinions, but they are sort of antiquated compared to everyone on here (doesn't make them wrong for you) Anyone can make a good or bad parent. I lost my mom when i was young, does that mean because i didn't have a mother that i may be missing something? I use pads.  I like Coach.  And I am a liberal who thinks Obama was not a good choice for our country.  And although I had a credit card at about 18, i think there should be stricter limits on what dollar amounts can be given to people at that age.  Maybe they shouldn't get a $5K limit.  My parents took me to Sears to get my first credit card to "build my credit history"

Again, not a scientific sample. Not anywhere, but especially not in Texas.

And since when does someone have to be able to procreate in order to adopt? Should infertile couples not adopt because God didn't mean for them to have children?
