    <div>True statement.</div><div>

[QUOTE]Which desk did you pick, Snippy?

Sorry! I went for a really long walk with Lucy. I got the orange! Looks better in person:

  • i like the orange desk!

I woke up this morning to discover H cleaned out the kitchen cupboards last night while I slept.  I had a mild freakout when I noticed he threw away a shitload of perfectly fine spices....but fortunately I cooled down before he woke up.

When he got up he told me he threw away the ones he thought were "old" ...but at that point I no longer cared enough to remark.

I just threw in a load of laundry, but otherwise I have done nothing all day.
  • Looks good Snippy - and you're right, it does look better in your pic than online. Maybe it was the lighting or something. I love that mirror.

    Aryn - that's adorable!
  • Hockey - that is not okay in my book. What a waste! I love my spices.
  • Hockey - My FI is the opposite. When I moved in I found things that expired in 2008 still in his pantry and cabinets. I moved in last fall. He couldn't understand why I was throwing it all away.

Some spices are expensive though. I would have been upset too.

  • Ya....i sort of looked through the trash bag and noticed a lot of the ones he threw away were stuff he doesn't like (like garlic powder) but ya.....I blame a friend who once told him bottled spices lose their flavor after a month...he won't let his own tastebuds see how ridiculous that is.

I would say he easily threw away $20-$40 worth of spices.

I think he knew he shouldn't have done it...because even with me not saying a word about it he started defending himself "they were old and we have this whole spice rack right here"

  • Luckily H never touches the cupboards. He knows better. He's a freaking packrat too, so it would be anathema for him to throw stuff away in the first place.
  • H's mom always throws out perfectly fine things because "they have been here too long"...except for her, too long is more than a week.

My mom won't throw anything away.  I was over there the other day and she handed me mustard that expired in 2006.  Really mom?

H and I are somewhere in the middle.  However, he leans more towards his mother and I lean more towards my mother.
  • To me if it smells/tastes good, it is good. I dont' care how long it's been in the cupboard.
  • H and I are going to watch a movie. Adieu!
  • Hockey, I would have been very upset too. My FI does stuff like this pretty often. Most recently he threw out an entire bottle of syrup because ants were on it. ON it, not IN it.

<div>I'm kind of like this. Mostly with leftovers and stuff. Or things that are close to the expiration date.</div>

  • Don't get me wrong, coldcuts, leftovers, milk, etc...these are things I do not risk...

crackers, chips, cake mixes, etc that are not opened and not close to an expiration date and fine longer than a few weeks (but my MIL does not agree)
  • *double take*

Did somebody say "Wizarding World of Harry Potter?"

I usually just lurk over here but I saw that and had to chime in.

    Favorite place ever.
  • Eagles, what'd you get them?
  • Eagles: you are getting close!  Congrats on another check! :)
  • Hey guys. I just finished cleaning the eff out of my house. It felt awesome to get it done. It is cleaner than it has been since we moved in, probably. J is gonna come home from camping tomorrow and be thrilled with the surprise. ;)

Now I'm reading Divergent for the first time, and casting celebrities as characters in my head. Fun Saturday, i tell ya.

  • Eagles the closer to the wedding the more i started adding things to my to do list.  Finally I said "what am I doing?"  and stopped adding stress onto myself.

I am still sick, but trying to tell myself I am fine.  The turtle passed away on Thursday.  It was really tough...especially on H.
  • Sorry about your turtle Hockey :(

  • Sorry to hear about your turtle Hockey  : (

I just got back from Walmart and the Childrens Miracle Network was out front grilling. Calories from a cheeseburger don't count if it's for charity right?
  • Oh no.  Sorry to hear about the turtle Hockey.

Hi!  I went to a social with a bunch of dog people for a few hours this morning.  Autumn is exhausted.

Having a clean house is so nice MuSu.  H would have a fit if he saw how much I've kinda trashed this place since he left on Wednesday morning.  He cleaned the whole apartment on Tuesday.  I unloaded another box of stuff all over the kitchen island.  Spread a bunch of bills out on the coffee table to go through, ran the dishwasher but haven't unloaded it yet, so the dirty dishes are stacked in the sink.  And I haven't put away the laundry he left on the guest room bed yet either.  #solazy.

  • I hate when that happens Loopy. I try to keep things neat as I go, because if I start falling behind a little bit I get less and less motivated to get it all done and then I've got a huge mess on my hands.
  • thanks ladies.

being sick this week and busy the last few weekends, this place looks like it could be on horders.

ok maybe not that bad...but it is bad.
  • I'll get it all cleaned up.  I was looking for something in the box I unpacked yesterday (it's office filing stuff) and I never did find it so the whole box got unpacked.  It needs to end up IN the filing cabinet.  We packed what was in the filing cabinet about 3 months ago, so I've got 3 months worth of "stuff I keep filed for records and such" to organize and file.  Plus all the moving paperwork, etc too.
  • I actually like organizing paperwork, so that would be a bit of a break for me lol. I really need to get some laundry done. I'm running out of clean clothes. But that takes, you know, effort.
  • I'm thinking I might put the computer away and take a nap today.  I have been able to skip it hte last few days, but I'm really sleepy right now and keep sliding more and more horizontal on the couch here :).
  • oddly enough, i love cleaning and organizing at work.  I hate it at home.
  • Hockey - At work I'm the neatest person around. At home I can be a bit of a slob. Oddly enough it's only when I'm alone. When FI is here (or I'm there) I'm very neat as well.

Loopy - when I'm feeling drowsy and knotting I sometimes end up asleep curled up around my netbook. Probably not the safest idea - but it never happens on purpose. Anyways - enjoy your nap!
