I didn't know there was a sticker like that, Daff. I will need to get one. That is totally one of my fears, that poor pups will be stuck inside when I'm at work and a gas line bursts and blows up the house. Which i guess if it blows up, they are SOL. But you get my point.

[QUOTE]In Response to Re: Irrational Fears : Ahh the book where the girl wakes up to her room in flames but she thinks shes dreaming so she goes back to sleep and in the end you find out she died in the fire and has been a ghost haunting the new family all along...I didn't sleep for days after reading that. I also couldn't watch Are You Afraid of the Dark? by unless I hid around the corner. Our dining room had an arch with walls that extended out further than the living room did and I would peek around the corner to watch the non-scary scenes. And speaking of creepy books...Wait Till Helen Comes by Mary Downing Hahn is by far the scariest book I ever read for kids.

I always take a quick peek in to the backseat of my car before I get in. There was a story I read as a kid about this girl driving down a lone highway, a car behind kept flashing their brights at her and she was freaking out thinking this guy in the other car was trying to get her to crash or was trying going to kill her. She finally gets home and runs into the house to tell her parents, they come storming out to see if they could catch the person that was following her. Only to see that guy in the other car, pull in to their drive way and confront another guy that was IN THE BACKSEAT OF THE GIRLS CAR THE WHOLE TIME.

This is a horrible retelling of the story but it is basically why I am afraid of being killed by a guy that is hiding in my backseat.

I'm afraid of geese and ducks...They get near me at parks and I start hyperventilating. It might have something to do with being chased and bitten by one as a toddler (I don't remember it, but my parents told me about it).

I remember that story too. The guy would flash his lights every time he'd see the other guy in the back seat reach up to grab her, or something like that. I can't remember if it was an urban legend or not, though.

But, as rule #31 of Zombieland say: always check the backseat.

I think this is perfectly rational, but I'm deathly afraid of spiders. When I had insomnia and took Ambien to sleep, I would wake up in the middle of the night and hallucinate THOUSANDS of spiders crawling all over me. And I felt them too. That med is trippy.

I'm also really afraid of sitting down in public areas, like movie theaters, restaurants, etc. When I was young my dad told me that people with blood-borne diseases like to stick infected needles into seats and when you sit down you get infected, too. Apparently these people also put needles into vending machines and the hand pump at gas stations. Then there was that news story recently about the needle found in an airplane sandwich, so now I obviously feel my lunacy is rational. I carry a flashlight in my purse when I go to the movies so I can check my seat.

This made me tear up a little. I am terrified of this happening to my dogs. It was worse when I lived in an apartment because who knows what kind of stupid shiiiit your neighbors do when you aren't home.

I was also terrified of getting in and out of the shower when I lived alone. I was always afriad I would slip and fall and break my neck. I was convinced it would be days before anyone would find my dead naked body in my bathroom and I may or may not have been nibbled on by my dogs in my imaginings. That would be a horrible way to go.

Not needles, shots. And blood tests.

I've never had a blood test, and it's because I'm terrified. It's not the needle going in or coming out, it's this concept of suction even thought I know that's not what happens. I know it's fine, I just can't do it. Ugh I get so freaked out thinking about it.
