Afternoon Thread

This is the week that never ends.

I just hope the teenage boys who are supposed to be helping us in crafts don't show up tonight. They're worse than the kids tenfold.

What's up with you?

Re: Afternoon Thread

  • I'm counting down the hours til I get to leave for the weekend, which currently sits at 2.5.  I'm also pretty excited that I booked my Cedar Point trip last night.
  • Have fun on your extended weekend! Have you been to Cedar Point before? It's pretty awesome. Top Thrill Dragster all the way!
  • Our subdivision where I work got hit by lightening last night.  Fried a bunch of stuff.  Good times.

I LOVE Cedar Point jealous! So my work has blocked TK so now I'm doomed to mobile. This blows.

  • Hi Midge! I'm just waiting on my mom to have a conversation with my dad about the house. Apparently she's ready to let it go and move into an appartment.

The house needs a lot of money to get it where it needs to be. It is worth soo much less than what we still owe on it. It's a huge house, and when I'm gone it will be my mother, sister, and two cats and a dog.

Obviously if they decide to let go of the house I'm not moving upstairs because the person they're renting the basement out too isn't moving in. I'm hoping they get this sorted out soon, because there is a lot to do and I can't do it until they figure it out.

Plus we (my mother and I) are getting uneasy about renting the basement out to these people. They've already tried to get the rent cheaper (it's a fuuucking bargain as it is), tried to force me out early so they have more time to move in, and lied to dad about a message my mom sent them. I just have a very bad feeling that they're going to end up trying to screw us.

I hope we figure this shiiiit out soon, because I have to be moved out by August 1st if they decide to still have them move in.
  • I haven't been to CP in 15 years.  My best friend & I have been talking about going for a few years now and are finally making it happen.  We both love roller coasters (she didn't start liking them until we were in HS), but she's only been on one that goes upside down once, and that was at Geauga Lake when we were in elementary school.

  • Ouch, Habs.

I feel like this has been the longest MONTH ever.  I'm so glad that once I'm done with class tonight, the only thing I HAVE to do for the next three days is work tomorrow morning.  I intend on being as lazy and have as much fun as earthly possible this weekend.

  • Yikes Habs  - is there any damage to your property?

Strlz - where are you going this weekend?
  • Yikes, Habs!  Will your homeowner's cover everything?

    Poke- that sucks.

Our model homes are fine, but people's microwaves, A/C units, and some of their dimmer switches are fried.  One of the houses had their whole 200 amp box blow.  Insane.

  • Good afternoon.  We had an issue come up earlier that brought my busy day to a screeching halt.  Now I'm just waiting to see if we can proceed.

I'm going to Michigan.  A friend of mine & her H have a B&B that they close to the public every other summer for a weekend so that friends from the group we belong to can come up for the weekend at a cheap rate.  This is the first time I've been able to go because previous trips have interfered with camp or I couldn't justify 2 trips up from SC.
  • Thanks to Web MD I'm pretty sure I have an abscessed tooth. I still have two baby teeth in my bottom jaw (molars next to the incisors) and my dentist has been telling me for a while now that soon enough they are going to need to come out and my best option is implants. I was hoping they'd make it another couple of years, but if it's a baby tooth that has an infection there's no point in trying to save it. I have a dentist appointment already scheduled in a week and a half so now I'm really nervous. H is going back to school in the fall full time and I'm dreading adding a pile of dental bills to our one-income budget.
  • Thanks guys. It's not too bad, I keep texting my mother asking if she's called dad yet. She's probably going to come and beat me with my phone in a second lol.

Today sounds like an all around crappy day for most of us. Is it a full moon or some crap?
  • It's 10 AM here. God, I wish it was closer to the afternoon. Somebody just set out fire alarm off so we had to exit the building for a good 10 minutes. Fun times today, let me tell ya.
  • Ouchers Habs, I hope nothing is seriously damaged.

Poke, that sounds like no fun at all. At least your parents are talking again without you being in the middle?
  • Yikes habs, that doesn't sound good.

I'm here, all fluttery now because I got a call from the school district i interviewed with. They are having a hard time getting ahold of my references (which makes sense because the numbers on my WECAN thing are these people's classroom/school numbers). I gave him some cell phone numbers.  Including J's.  I'm hopeful though. Reference checks usually mean they like me!!!

Habs and Poke, both of those situations sound sucky. (Hug)

My brother's flight from Boston is apparently delayed due to weather so now he and his family aren't coming in until tomorrow. Boo. I haven't seen his wife and son in eight years.

92 people have RSVP'd yes for the big b-day bash; my sisters are coming over all day tomorrow ot set up, decorate, cook. And likely drink some wine.

ETA: Chels, that does sound promising! Fingers crossed!

  • Oh and Strlz, you must ride Top Thrill Dragster since you haven't been there in 15 years. It goes from 0-120mph in a matter of seconds, straight up in the air, loops (kind of) and goes straight back down. Amazing.
  • Eags - I guess that means we can expect all the crazies to come out on wednesday then.

Midge - They are going to try counseling. And yes, they are now talking - although not much comes of it. They don't communicate well, so until they get some help shiiit is still going to happen.

    Natrasha - Owie : (

Chelsea - Sounds exciting. Fingers crossed for you!
  • Poke, I'm glad to hear they're going to try some counseling. I've been thinking about you and will continue to!

    Hey, ladies!

I'm hanging out for a few, then it's back to chores. I just woke up with the urge to deep clean the whole house. My kitchen looks awesome, it's so clean...you could do an appendectomy in it. It smells great, too. Lemon fresh.

The den/pub is nearly done.. I just have to mop the floor. I love orange glo, it really does a good job on the wood and it stays shiny for weeks and weeks. Plus it smells good.

I think I deserve a cold Fat Tire.

ETA:  Poke, that's good news about your parents...I hope the whole renter/basement thing works out.

  • Ya, my boss is going haywire because everyone is getting him to fix it.  They are lucky we are still building in the neighbourhood and are around, because if we weren't, they'd have to be like everyone else who owns a house and call someone to fix it for them.  ha!

Most of them I get to see at least once a year.  A bunch of us travel together on MLK weekend every year.  They've been doing to MLK thing for 26 years now, but I've only gone with them 3 times (Savannah, Disney World, and a state park lodge in OH).

<div>I wouldn't recommend it. You'll have to work hard to clean your kitchen all over again!!</div><div>
</div><div>But, I love getting bitten by the cleaning bug. It happened to me Monday. It was a little exhausting but felt so good. </div>
  • Hi! I'm just popping in real quick. I'm going to see a movie with my neighbor kids... The girl was our flower girl and then she has two adorable brothers. And it's an excuse for me to see Madagascar 3! Poke, I'm so glad your parents are talking without you stuck in the middle. I hope things work out for them and for your family!
  • Okay, cool. I'm excited for you Strlz!
