There was a letter to the editor in Philly's paper today that has the best idea I've heard: build a church and a temple on either side of it. Many have been saying for years that moderate Muslims have to stand up and take back their faith from terrorists. They are doing just that.
    Posted by tldh
Also, I think it would be stupid beyond belief for a church to do this to make a political statement, because that's what they'd be doing.

If a church is needed in an area, by all means, have at 'er. Do NOT do it because you're pouting and childish.

You have no idea how many times I've seen Starbucks directly across the street from each other. NO idea. The universe is very small indeed.

There was a Walgreen's by Grandma Nugget's house. It had been there for years. Then suddenly CVS bought up a big strip mall directly across the street, tore it down, and built a new, bigger CVS store there. Walgreen's followed up by tearing down their old Walgreen's, and building a new bigger Walgreen's on the lot right next door.

It's like one big architectual "What now, B*TCH!" back and forth between them.
In Response to Re: Mosque in NYC : A while back I went to Japan for vacation. We had Hiroshima on our schedule. As an American, I was sweating bullets, ready to be given dirty looks and be blamed for the nuclear bomb. You know what? It ended up being one of the most memorable moments of my life. The Japanese people couldn't stop coming up to us, welcoming us, asking us about our history, sharing their stories about the day the bomb dropped. At every momument in that town you see tributes from AMERICANS and other countries involved in the Allied effort, sharing in the tragedy of that event. It is a city dedicated to peace and love. It's so embarrassing to compare their approach to what's happening with this center == Oh, and a lot of the doubts about the YMCA-esque center (which =/= mosque) can be answered at... brace yourselves... their website!!! http://www.cordobainitiative.org/?q=content/frequently-asked-questions (Imagine that, this research thing might just catch on.)

Wait, so since we're not from NY we don't get an opinion on something that is shedding very bad light on ALL of America? At least you agree the mosque is a good thing. But you're still like the NYers that think that everything revolves around them.
