GG I lived in Lakewood until I was about 7 or 8. My dad grew up there and my grandparents lived about 3 blocks away from us. It was the best. Where were you in Lakewood? Did you go to Malley's?

musical - haha.. not much to tell... I grew up showing dogs (breed Pugs) - sort of a weird hobby, but I love it. Used to travel to shows 40+ weekends per year, but it's down significantly with work, college, FI, etc. Still doing 1-2 weekends per month though... I show a little bit of everything (have some Labrador Retrievers, Nova Scotia Duck Tolling Retrievers, Pugs, French Bulldogs, Cavalier King Charles Spaniels, a Border Terrier, and a Bearded Collie for clients right now...)

I wouldn't give it up for the world - FI makes fun of me for it, but oh well... he can deal :P

MK-My best friend lives there now. I'm not quite sure of the area, but I know I got off the Mckinley exit on 90 and she is about 5 minutes from there. I went to some bar that does karaoke on Friday nights. couldn't even tell ya the name. But we had an absolute blast.

That is way cool, Kelly! My cousins about an hour north of here breeds Beagles and they show some of them. My family actually was given one of their top winning show dogs after he was "retired" at age 4. He was the most calm and sweet beagle there ever was,

I think it would be hilarious to try and train my lab to be a show dog. She is such a nut.

GG- We were going to go to Whiskey Joe's, but it didn't happen. H and I made it to Ricks's before the rain hit ( all in Tampa).
We have some friends that live in St. Pete, but we usually stay over in Tampa.

Yeah, I'm not familiar with Tampa. My sister has lived in Indian Rocks, then St. Pete so I just know that area pretty much. But she's a teacher too

Musical - that's awesome! I always giggle at the people who say showing is cruel and abusive and all this other nonsense... I've never met more well-adjusted animals than show dogs (I mean, obviously there are exceptions but on the whole, they are well-trained and well-socialized). And yes, our animals are retired early LOL. My mom's big winner was retired at 3.5 years old, and I've had two retire at 5 (Pugs average about 11-13 years old).

My dad (for the last year or so he was in Cleveland) rented an apartment on Clifton (I know you don't know the area, but your friend will at some point). It was one of the best apartments I have ever seen. It was in one of the brownstone buildings. towo bedrooms, one bath, spacious living room and dining room. It had a sun room that someone had put a murphy bed it. It was just downright awesome. And he only paid like $600.00 a month for it. I totally would have subleased it from him if I had had any desire to move back to Cleveland. (I will never have the desire to move back to Cleveland).

Kelly-- Yeah, I guess I don't know much about dog shows but I just kind of assumed most dogs would be pretty well behaved. It was hilarious because we have an inground pool in the backyard (at my childhood home/parents current house) and he used to prance around the perimeter of the pool like he was being led around a show ring.

That's Smoothie, the ex-show dog.

Teacher and Mica-I go to the St. Pete/Tampa area a few times a year thanks to my sister. Now that I'm closer to her I hope to increase it. I want to go down for the 4th this year. Then I will also be there for my wedding

MK--- He was the sweetest little beagle ever. We had to put him down last July because had mouth cancer and it was incurable.

He was only 8.

That's the tumor in his mouth the night before he was put down.

It was getting really bad, but he took it like a trooper! He was such a cutie.

I know--I think it was hardest on my brother because he was given Smoothie as a birthday present and we only had him for 4 years (since he was a show dog before that w/ my cousins). He really was a great dog even throughout the cancer though, the good part about it was that it was not painful until the very last week or so.

Your pups are sooooo cute. I sometimes think that if I was to somehow end up being infertile or not going to adopt kids, etc, I would be just fine being a dog mommy.

As a side note, has anyone seen the headache that is "parking wars" on A&E?

Haha, I guess I can see why people love it... I don't mind it, but it just came on after Storage Wars (which I shamelessly love) and it makes me anxious. I think after 4 years of working at the bank, I just get flashbacks to irate customers. I really am not exaggerating that people have gotten that angry at me. People have called me words that TK will not let me write on here.
