Yeah, I'm pretty sure I'll be able to do nothing with my psych degree, but oh well.

FI loves golden retrievers. His mom wouldn't let him get one because they shed, so he got Tucker, who's a goldendoodle. He was a cute puppy from the pictures I've seen and he's a really cute adult dog too.

[QUOTE]Stef, to answer what you can do with those degrees, nothing. Literally jack sh*t. I guess HR, or something like what J&K does (intensive in-home) but my plan is to nanny for a couple of years and go to graduate school for nutrition and work with kids. It'll tie all my education together nicely I think.  Leisel, I think goldendoodle puppies are the cuh-utest puppies ever ever.

That's really interesting! I have a lot of respected for nanies and teachers.

One of the girls in our department has a Hispanics degree. She just got promoted to Claims Adjuster. So, there, you can be a Claims Adjuster. LOL I think she had plans to become a teacher, but couldn't find a job and ended up coming to work in the call center.

Well I'm probably biased, but I think my dog was the cutest puppy ever.

I just read this again. Really? It's a dog that has an owner. It's not the dog's fault for doing dog-like things. It's the owner's responsibility. Have you talked to him? Or called the proper authorities if it is a safety issue?

I have, many times. Many, many, many, many times. I'd never kill him, either. It would start a major fight in our neighborhood. But, I've fantisized about it many times.

I've drug his furry ass home at 1am and knocked on his owners door and made them get up and deal with him many times. And, he still comes back. I farkin' hate the dog. Really hate him.

He used to chase my mare often. I knew two friends that lost horses to dogs chasing them into things that caused them to break legs. I don't give a flying fuuuck, they need to keep the dog at home where he belongs and out of my pasture. Since no one would force them to keep him at home, the landlord got extremely upset that I was going to take the dog to a rescue, I bought bear spray, and maced the dog every time I saw it for a long time. And, I drug him home often. And, he still chased my horse and I hated it.

Had my horse gotten hurt I would have sued their lazy lawbreaking asssses for everything I could have.

  • Too cute Raes!

I went to lunch with friends yesterday and had to park far away. This resulted in me walking by a pet store with lots of puppies in the window. I wanted to go in and get one so badly.

  • That is an owner problem, not a dog problem. Christ on a cracker, steff. It is not the dog's fault. That owner needs to be reported so that the dog can be removed and placed in a loving home and not killed. My heart hurts that anyone fantasizes about killing a dog. I need to remove myself now from the thread.

  • MUSU - I agree it's an owner problem, but no one would do anything about the owner. Injuring my own animals on their property isn't an option. There weren't any good options. The dog is one of the reasons we're paying board on the mare and moved her many months ago. My other horse won't run from the dog.

  • Raes, those are some cuuute pups.
  • What do you mean no one would do anything about the dog? The police won't investigate and threaten the owner? I find that hard to believe. Report them to animal control.

  • I was going to come say, hello what a lovely wonderful morning!

Steffi has just pissed me the fuuuck off. SERIOUSLY. I am going to just back away because for heaven fucking sake. Call the cops, dude. Take him to a shelter (who cares about your landlord), what the fuuuck ever. You maced the dog?

Of course, this is believable coming from someone who's instructed her cats be killed after she dies.

And yeah, bear mace is insane. It is illegal to use on humans usually because its for BEARS. Not dogs.

Leisel - how do you fence 14 acres to keep a dog out? He goes under my wood fences?

I did offer to pay a trainer to work with him with a shock collar to train him not to chase horses and they refused. They refused any and all options I provided to keep him from chasing my horses and laughed it off, with my landlord, that they knew no one who had lost a horse to dogs chasing it. I had an attorney, couldn't get out of my lease, the neighbor with cows sided with me in the discussions, but they dismissed his viewpoint.

The chewing of stuff on my deck I could handle. But, you can't really fence off the amounts of property we all have where I live. It's not practical to dog fence the 11 acre pasture.

My landlord told me if I called the authorities on the dog I would need to remove my horses from the property taht night. I did end up removing the horse that the dog was chasing the most shortly there after because she was having issues, at my expense. It was just a terrible situation.

I will protect my own animals on their property no matter the cost to the law breaking animal. Tough cookies to the other animal.
    image
  • I get that owners shouldn't allow their dogs to roam free on others' property. But based on the animals Steffi has, I have a feeling she and her neighbors live out in the country where dogs probably do get to roam around the land a bit more. I don't know if I think the neighbor is being neglectful. Obviously I'm just guessing and could be wrong about that.

Still, Steffi - call the cops. Don't kill their dog, mace him, or pray that he gets run over. That's disturbing.
  • It doesn't matter where you live. In the country, you can still call the cops and have the laws enforced. Who the hell cares what your landlord says? Why even refer to her in the first place? This is a legal issue. Doesn't mean he is getting neglected, it just mean the dog is not being controlled or disciplined, which is a problem. That dog needs a new and better controlled home.
    image
  • Why does the landlord not support you protecting your animals by calling the authorities? That doesn't make sense to me.

Because the landlord and dog owner are friends, landlord lives next door. Landlord and I share barn. Landlord also has horses out there. Landlord thinks it's funny that dog chases horses.

It was a farked up situation and I spent many hours and tears over it and really couldn't get out of my lease, so I moved my mare to my friend's barn, and have kept my lease. I hate for the dog to suffer.

Yes, I have a will that if I die and my husband passes at the same time or is unable to care for our two special needs cats they are to be euthanized. The other 5 will be rehomed.

  • So um, what's up besides Steffi being cruel to a dog? I'm going grocery shopping and doing laundry today. It's going to be in the mid 80's today which is awesome. I was getting awfully tired of 95 degrees and no AC. I might even lay out on a blanket and read today.
  • For real though. I want to run and adopt this dog myself. It is not their fault that they were taught to roam with no consequences. The penalty should be on the owners, not on the dog.
    image
  • I don't know legal terms with your landlord but this is NOT something they should be able to evict you for. Like, this is completely ridiculous.
