I do judge reality TV women who say they are broke but are always getting their nails done. Maybe that's more of a WTF than a judge, but it's really no skin off my back. I don't really give a shiit how anybody else spends their dough.

You're still not getting it - unless somebody happens to have the Hope diamond laying around their attic, selling "something of value" isn't going to prevent the person from needing public assistance - at most, it'll delay the need for assistance for a month, or get the person kicked off assistance for a month, at which point they'll need to reapply the following month anyway. Seriously, how is that really altering the person's situation?
If someone owns designer clothes, then loses their job and needs assistance, by your logic they should sell their clothes before they go on assistance... but then they still need food stamps a few weeks or a month later, and you know what else they now need? New clothes. Is anyone who needs public assistance obligated to sell all their nice things and then re-buy less-nice things from a thrift store? Would that appease your sense of fairness? Seriously, I normally like your posts, but you're being incredibly obtuse about this.

Listen. Robotlady. You could sell all of your worldly belongings, and it isn't gonna do squat. You can save in places, sure. You can not do something that you would normally do. Sure. But selling your stuff would be pointless, and quite frankly, a bit stupid.
Because then you'd be poor, and have no clothes, pots, pans, or shoes.
