I had a total freak out yesterday afternoon. I went shopping for a dress to wear to that wedding in may and everything looked like a shapeless sack on me. It depresses me more that I can say that despite counting my calories, weighing all of my food and working out 46 times a week since jan/feb, I've not lost more than a pound or two and it always shows up again seems to when I work out more too, but my measurements aren't vastly different. I'm still the same size I was when I decided months ago I didn't want to be this size. I don't want to go to the wedding anymore cause I'm so embarassed by how I look but I know I can't bail cause of that : I came home and cried yesterday I was so upset over it.

I hate clothes shopping too, for similar reasons. Also, looking in the mirror makes me never want to have another kid. But I will, and I will rebound again, because its worth it in the end, but the vain part of me wants no part of it ever again.

  • I confess that I'm very disappointed at how dysfunctional DH's family is, especially because it won't ever get any better.  There are very few pleasant GTGs, and very few people I even want to be around.  I was hoping for so much more.  I'm actually much closer with exH's family, and it makes me sad.

I'm also half wishing I had opted for severance instead of going with the company that bought us.  It's probably better long-term to stay, but the tension is high and morale is low around here.  I'm losing some of my work buddies, and it might not be enjoyable anymore.

  • I'm sorry, Nebb :( That's rough.  When is your specialist appointment?

  • Thanks Sesh.

DJ - that's not an easy relationship to be in.  I get it that it's all NRE right now, but reality will intrude sooner rather than later.  My son was in rehab for 2+ years and just finished!  His fiancee went through it all with him - pre-addiction, the addiction, and the rehab.  The clinic did have counseling for family and SOs.
  • I confess that my eating habits have been crap since the first week of April.  I've either skipped meals or eaten take-out almost every night since then.  H and I went to the grocery store last night after realizing that we had NOTHING in the house, and what we did have was spoiled or moldy.  It was pathetic.  I haven't felt like cooking or even eating much, but that really needs to stop.  We sort of had a reality check yesterday when we realized that we had let so much go in the way of our kitchen.  At least our pets have been eating well.
In Response to Re: Confessions? : Sesh, if you can fake it well enough for 2 class sessions, I think you will build a rapport with your students. I see your teaching style to be more of a conversational one, rather than a lecture, so I think that you will get more comfortable with each other as the class progresses.
    Posted by SarahPLiz
I don't like lectures, so it will be more conversational (especially with peer reviews). I think part of my worry is that I look like I'm in high school, and when I dress "professional," I look like I'm just playing dress up.

I mean, I know my shiit, but I also know people don't take me seriously. When I went to get my faculty ID yesterday, the guy freaking questioned me if I actually got my paperwork from the English department and argued that I needed a student ID.

And it's 3-hour classes! Holy Hera, that's a long time. But if there's one thing I love to talk about, it's writing, so I'll probably find <em>something</em> to talk about.

That would be so fun!  I actually want to go into publishing and be an editor at a journal.  In my world, you need reqs from everyone you've worked for.  I want to tell my boss I'm leaving so I can hit up contacts, but I can't say it until just the right time otherwise it's "Just keep paying me, okay?  I'm totally leaving at some point, but I'll let you know when.  You just pay me until then."  It's farking awkward.

My specialist appointment isnt until May 16th, the wedding is on the 19th :( so that wont help me for that. I dont even know what the first appointment will do, to be honest. I feel really really hopeless. Like everyone in the world is normal and Im the only person who is stuck being a fatass. Its ballsack TRYING to lose weight for so long, and nothing happening.

  • I called in sick today when it probably wasn't warranted. The last few nights I've had some insomnia, so I do actually feel like crap--but I'll feel like crap whether I am working or not, so there really isn't a reason that I shouldn't go in to work.

But I had some major problems with insominia about a year ago (I was sleeping approximately 3-5 hours, every night, for more than two months) and I have never felt worse physically than I did during that time; there is almost no responsibility that I wouldn't shirk to ensure that I don't ever have to feel like that again.

Thanks, BJ.  Honestly things are getting better mentally.  And I am totally sick of pizza and Chinese.  So there's that.

I was planning on making homemade mac and cheese tonight, but I think my mom needs me to go with her to pick up my sister's car (my sister had a seizure the other day at a friend's house and had to leave her car there), and then I'll probably get roped into staying at their house for dinner...and they always get takeout on Friday nights.

  • Sesh, I've always found that my favorite professors are the ones who are there to make sure we learn something and aren't crazy up tight about grades and lectures.  Converstaional teaching with something you're passionate about will be great.  My sociology teacher intrigued me because she was so passionate and we spent every class period having conversations about it.  YOu'll do great!

<div>Yeah. I think FI's family was pretty excited.  I didn't realize I would be walking into a full house of them all a week or so after we got engaged and I immediately froze so I think that set the tone for everything to be weird.  Also, FI's sister had a baby right around that time so it was all emotional and weird and I was like "get me outta here!"</div><div>

Sesh- a little teacher to teacher advice. When I first started teaching I dressed nice, more for me as a "look the part, feel the part" thing. (I started teaching at 22.) Also, fake it 'til you make it.

I say stupid crap in front of my kids all the time. IMO the best move is don't let it bother you, KEEP GOING and pretend like it didn't happen.

Like PPs said the most important quality in a good teacher is knowledge and passion for their content. I know you have that.
