Oh, I have a grievance against the NFL shop. We ordered my mom a customized sweatshirt for Christmas, and it's awesome. The reviews said they ran small, so we got an XL just to be sure. Dude, that thing will barely fit the cat. And since it's custom, we can't return it. I'm pissed.

I'm here, just no grievances. Well I have a non-knot related one actually. I had to call the cops this morning for a suspicious vehicle in front of our house and my H came home as a result. Two minutes after he got home I had to leave for work. I wanted to hang out and drink coffee while enjoying this rainy day. Now I'm stuck at work with some seriously grouchy a-holes today. I might be one of them.

    Good point Missy :)

I just think it's stupid. He's from North Dakota. I went to high school with his cousins. It seems natural that he would come home to be with family around the holidays. Honestly he is here all the time, but apparently being here during Christmas and bringing Fergie with him is ZOMG NEWS. He used to visit his ailing grandmother in the nursing home my grandpa stayed at, so my grandma saw him a lot, Fergie too, lol.

People just go crazy when they hear about famous people being here. OJ Simpson showed up one day and the entire state went nuts.

I haven't read through this yet, but someone should flame me. I just turned down a non-profit community theater for a small line of credit. They weren't good for it -- they basically admitted that they don't know when they can repay the debt, and have actually budgeted for late fees -- but I still feel like a heel. If I could afford it, I'd put their entire order on my credit card and call it a Christmas present, but ... alas. :(

I know what you mean AATB..being in Saskatoon celebrities aren't exactly a common sight. Gene Simmons girlfriend/wife is from here, and whenever she's back people call into the radio and say they saw her. About two weeks ago, her and Gene Simmons went to a hockey game here (the biggest hockey team in the city...junior level hehe. No NHL for us!) and the whole game and events revolved around them being there. It's a pretty big deal I guess, but still crazy.

And same with Josh Duhamel, he used to party here occasionally BEFORE he was famous, and that was still a pretty big deal when he said something about that once..

Edit: I just realized I said "pretty big deal" a lot. I need a thesaurus.

It makes it worse because everyone was so generous for our wedding and with me being unemployed, and I feel like a total asshole that I can't return it with something nice for Christmas. Usually we get Noodle's bonus before Christmas so we can do something really nice for folks, but this year he doesn't even know if he'll get one since the company's down 20%. And if he does, it will be next week. And I'll be damned if I'm putting anything else on our CC's without knowing that extra money is coming in to pay it off shortly.

Well, if OJ Simpson showed up here, I'd go nuts, too.

    Going into hiding that is.

Totally unrelated story - if my dad had been physically able to fulfill his NFL contract (he signed with Buffalo), he would have been OJ's teammate. OJ came in 69; my dad would have started in 67.

The doctor told him he could go, but his asthma would keep him from finishing a season.

You actually did the right thing by not extending them credit. Non-profits can only thrive and fulfill their purpose long term if they don't have sound financial management. Unfortunately, most program (idea) people are not financial people, so that's where I (and others like me) come into play. You did them a favor by not putting them into a deeper hole.

I agree with PP, Celles. You did them a favor by denying them. It would have only hurt them in the end and credit is not a given right for anyone.

LOL Yeah Missy, when word broke that he was in town all the media rushed to where he was, except we didn't. My co-worker was out of town and my boss told me he just wouldn't feel right about sending a woman in her mid-twenties to interview OJ Simpson.

I have no idea what I would have asked him though. He whined to my colleagues about how everyone's out to get him and that he's got a target on his back. Uh, yeah man. We know you were acquitted but we also know you did it, and you've been an asshole about it ever since.

Oh, I know it was the right financial decision. I'm just kind of sad about. It's a little theater that offers programs to at risk youth, and the director has been so nice to me. Everytime I decline him (and he's come back with different proposals no less than four times now), I receive a heartfelt "thank you for your consideration" e-mail.

I didn't think of it as a favor to them, though. That helps alleviate the guilt a little. :)

Hi! I don't really have any grievances other than I'm late to every thread. But I will say that I'm with people who don't understand the crose hate. I think that she's a little annoying sometimes but everyone is at first until they get a feel for how the board works.

I think that there used to be more crazies and it was fun to call them out. In my lurker days it was all drama all the time and it was highly entertaining. I feel like lately there just haven't been as many crazies (with some exceptions of course) and so people are more ready to turn someone into one. So the first time someone new says something a little weird or does something a little weird people are ready to jump all over it.

Really we just need more crazies to come back and that would solve the "jumping on people who don't deserve it" problem.

Hmmm. I do have a grievance, apparently. I vocalized it when Amusingbride commented that her company wasn't giving Christmas bonuses this year and Rayne's thread just made me think about it again. Except Raynes had the right attitude about it- the last two years her company wasn't able to afford bonuses and this year, while it might not be something big, they are showing their appreciation in what way they can.

Bonuses are generally not written into your contract as an entitlement. A lot of companies cut back to the bare bones the last few years in order to make it through and allow their employees to keep their jobs.

I also understand that there is a lot of resentment about CEOs and some company big wigs taking huge bonuses each year regardless of the financial well being of the company. Guess what- that's the media drawing attention to a few companies. It's not every company.

My firm is privately owned, didn't receive any money from the government in order to maintain it's structure and prides itself on being sound and ethical. The last two or three years it cut all bonuses and established wage freezes for waged employees. This is the first year they are offering bonuses again and lifting the wage freeze. But every single employee that chose to stay with the firm has been allowed their job. They haven't laid off anyone. And to me, keeping one's job, and ensuring the jobs of your colleagues, is worth a lot more than a Christmas bonus.

Celles, that WAS a favor to them - if they couldn't handle the line of credit, they would have screwed themselves. Just call you Santa :)

I do have a grievance - on CC the other day this chick was whining about her job - she is a building manager at an apartment complex and she was upset because her boss was telling her she needed to make calls to tenants who hadn't paid their rent yet, and she didn't feel like it was appropriate since it's Christmas. Like, yeah, they need to pay rent. Rent is not a surprise expense. It's one of those pay-or-you're-out type things, Christmas or not.

Well exactly I'm totally with you on that. (I re-read my post and think I wasn't totally clear) I think people enjoy drama and so when there is a lack of it they try to create it. That's my grievance - I don't think we need to do that. I'm sure somewhere on the boards there is drama and if you're craving it go find it. There's no need to make it here if it isn't warranted.

No it wasn't really directed at you. You explained earlier that you didn't really notice people picking on her and you just didn't like the way she was posting so you called her out. I think it's legitimate to call someone out if you genuinely aren't liking what they're doing. It probably could have been saved for today but whatever. You're still awesome.

It was more directed at the mid-thread people who kept jumping on her and also on 1ofthesedays. I think when one person flames someone others feel more comfortable to get on board because, "Yay! drama!" (FTR my issue with 1of was how defensive she got - she shouldn't have put it out there if she didn't want comments. You say you've been in jail and then are surprised people ask you about it?)

Don't get me wrong - I love drama :-) I just love good drama when it's really warranted. Like if that Tara chick came around here. That would be an AWESOME thread.

[QUOTE]In Response to Re: AYG! : In that case, we're in total agreement. It's certainly not hard to find someone who deserves a flame, or find drama, so I just don't see a need to force it.

B - this is going to be a PAR because I have to take M to the doctor, but this is a really silly statement coming from you, considering you were the one that started the callouts to BOTH Crose and 1ofThoseDays, yesterday, that ended up in flaming. I know you said that you were sorry for the way the Crose thread went down yesterday, but there was no doubt that you were trying to start something with the 1of thread.

Maybe, if you don't want to force the drama, you shouldn't be the one to perpetuate it.
Holy Crap. We survived the first year!

I've gotta say that I wasn't shocked and appalled by YI's hammer-throwing. (Best sentence ever.) However, I do think she wanted people to ask about the story.

But really, dude KILLED her cat. I am more worried about the stability of the dude that killed her poor cat than the 12 year old getting pissed and reacting.

And I really want Renee to change her sig pic. That is all.

Okay, here is my opinion on the Kiki thing. She lurks. I KNOW she does and she likes to take stabs at this board a lot. So, I think it's okay if MVP or whatever said something because Kiki does the same damn thing and she is a tool. (I know I know we should be better than that! :P ) She is a follower. She is a shitstarter. I would usually agree with going to the person's board and saying something to them directly but Kiki does this often so why can't we? Also, Kiki is a well liked E'er so I can understand a new person not going on her own to the E board and flaming Kiki. It would be a pile on.

This is also a P&R, because I have thigns I need to get done, and while I definitely see what you're saying, I see it differently. B says the things she feels she needs to say in the relevent threads, and then moves on with her life. She doesn't harp on it.

And I don't really think it's fair to blame her for the 1of stuff because I was the main perpetuator there, and like I said, I felt like I was just pointing out where her story didn't add up because that was weird to me.
