We went shopping together, just so that he could see what kinds of things I liked. But he made the final decision and picked the actual ring out himself. :-) Good job FI!!
One of my really good friends works at a jewelry store and I went in to visit her one day and noticed this ring. I even made her take it out of the case so I could try it on! haha Little did I know...a month later my future hubby walked in to look for an engagement ring. She stopped him right in his tracks...pulled this out and told him this was the one. It is everything I dreamed of as a little girl! Amazing start to my fairytale
I love seeing everyone's rings, they are all so unique and that's awesome!
We had been dating for about 5 and a half years, so we talked about weddings quite a bit in the six months. He wanted to be able to buy the ring in cash, and luckily I have always, always, always wanted just a round solitaire. He knew this, and even though he took my sister with him to buy it, he saw this and told her right away "that's it, that's the one I am buying!". He took my sister out to dinner and then came home and proposed within 30 minutes...haha.
I posted a few pages back but never learned how to put a picture up before, but here is my ring. My FI proposed to me on May 27th and we are planning on a 2012 wedding.
I absolutely love my ring! It's a Hearts on Fire ring/diamond, a little over a half-carat on a twisted pave setting. I got to pick it out the day after we got engaged and It felt perfect as soon as I put it on. In fact, they didn't even need to resize the band and it only took 40 minutes for them to set the stone and me to walk out with it.
I seriously get compliments on it every time I'm out of the house and I couldn't be happier with it.
I love my ring! It is the nicest thing I have ever owned, and way more than I deserve. My baby did good. He asked for my sisters approval on it before he proposed. Smart man!
I finally got around to taking some pictures of the ring! I love it, it is from Brilliant Earth, they gurantee that the diamonds are ethically sourced, which was my only request. He did a good job! We did go to do some ring shopping because he wanted to get an idea of what I liked. I tried on some rings that I thought I would love, they had the neat antique scrollwork and small accent diamonds, but I ended up liking the classic trellis solitaire. As soon as I put the setting on, I knew it was my engagement ring! He totally surprised me though which was my other request He did good!
he proposed on june 20. he vaguely knew what i liked but ultimately made the final decision himself. actually after he had already bought the ring, i told him i decided that i didn't want diamonds on the band...he freaked out about that for awhile but ultimately i loved it! 2ct center stone and .3ct on the band.
Thomas Proposed 07-24-10 the day before my birthday at the beautiful Biltmore Hotel in Coral Gables, FL. He apparently had been planning it for about 5 months prior with my best gf and his mom. He picked out a beautiful ring that embodies my personality and really just screams my name. It's a little over a carat all together on a platinum setting It's the Tiffany Embrace VVS2, G Color, Brilliant cut.
He did good!

I wanted something different and unique. He picked this out all on his own and it's sooooo beautiful! I love it and can't stop looking at it! The pics DO NOT do it justice!!! It's a round center diamond with 8 little diamonds on each side. The band curls up above the diamond from the left and down below on the right (making like a sideways "H") Soooo happy!!
My FI proposed on April 2 2010. We had looked at rings but everything we looked at was totally differant from what he picked. My band is his grandmothers weddng band and it is 5 1/4 carat round diamons so he took it to the jeweler and they looked at what looked good with the band... They decided on this 1.5 carat flawless passion stone round diamond. I was floored its about 3x as much as we had talked about.. when I asked why he got such a big diamond he sadi... the bigger one looked better.... LOL..
My fiancé Justin proposed in Las Vegas during a trip I surprised him with for his birthday. We were up in the replica of the Eiffel Tower taking in the city lights! He picked the ring out all on his own, and I couldn't be happier!! I love it!
I absolutely adore my ring. FI and I picked it out together last summer, but didn't actually purchase it until this summer. We bought it from the jeweler that his family has been going to for 30 years, which makes it even more special to me. As a college student, I spend ten hours a week in the lab (and I'm kind of a klutz), so I really like that the stone is bezel set instead of in a prong setting.
This was my grandmother's orginal wedding set. She informed me a few years ago that when I got married it would be mine. It is a gorgous ring by itself but with the sentimental value added, it is just priceless. So my fiance had my grandmother send the ring to my mom and she asked for permission from my mom to marry me.

We went looking once together and I fell in love with my ring. But after that not much was said, then he surprised me with the ring of my dreams! I love it!
I've been engaged for a while now, but thought I'd share. What gorgeous rings all you gals have:) Emerald with white sapphires . Absolutely love it! He picked it out on his own and I couldn't love it more.
"I'm selfish, impatient and a little insecure. I make mistakes, I am out of control and at times hard to handle. But if you can't handle me at my worst, then you sure as hell don't deserve me at my best." -Marilyn Monroe
I have tiny hands and skinny fingers (size 4!) so a huge diamond or wide band would look horrible on me. Nor did I want him to spend an arm and a leg (maybe just an arm...) because we have many things to save up for. I had gone ring gazing with my friend a couple months ago so I'd have an idea with what I wanted. I gave parameters to my friend and my fiance talked to her about it. Even though she didn't give a list of specific rings I liked, he picked out one of my favorites at the same store! He done good :-D It's from Helzberg Diamonds and it's their "Emma" ring, a 5/8 carat princess cut with 32 diamonds going down the side. Note that the picture of the ring on my finger was literally 3 sizes too big. The jeweler didn't believe my fiance when he said I was a size 4 and told him to just have me bring it in to get resized!
These are the pictures from the appraisal! It was his grandmother's ring. All I know about it is that it's from the 1930s, is paladium and white gold, and the shank is a mystery metal that couldn't be identified! My guess is that it reflect the depression era it was made in. I love it!
It was his great grandmothers ring! His mother and grandmother really wanted me to have it!!! I cried and cried when he proposed!!! Its a 1/2crt in yellow gold. We are going to be purchasing a differnt set though, because the setting can't be re-enforced with out it basically being totally redone and the family is kinda not okay with that. But for now i am happy wearing this ring!!
i always told my FI what style and kind of ring i dreamed of having and when i saw my ring i instantly fell in love with it. It was exactly what i always wanted!!!
Just perfect!!
