In Response to Re: Good Evening : Well, Mica already explained it. But yeah, delicious cured meats. Sometimes cheese, which is cool, sometimes pate or pickles which I am less fond of. <strong>But I love cured meats more than pretty much any other food.</strong>

<div>Cheese is the only food that comes before cured meats in my heart.</div>
• I think H fell in love with me because of how well I put together a charcuterie plate.  Prosciutto, salumis and cheese (and some pears to make things healthy).
• Man, I kind of wish people still mocked weddings. Well, maybe not, because then people would just think I was a more terrible person than they already do,

I'd kind of like to see your terrible side.
• Daff, not gonna lie. I could totally get on board with making fun of other peoples weddings. Although I only read WR threads on occasion. Many of them seem like such repeats that I skim over them.

I'm just a natural snob. Really though, it is just innate. My sister is the opposite, she is super accepting and non judgy. We are an excellent case for nature over nurture.

• That's a lot of cupcakes, MrsJesse!  And I would love 54 right now!  The rain...well, I'll take some of it ;)

Mica, I don't like iced tea, only hot.  I'm so weird.  Unfortunate, because iced tea would be lovely right now.  Plus I want it mostly because my lungs are unhappy tonight.  I'm still drinking it, just compensating by icing my shins.  Haha.

My college BFF and I used to say that we wanted to grow up to be elitists.

Haha, Triskit.  Ohhhhhh Triskit.  She was a special kind of crazy.

• Before I started posting (on my old SN, obviously), I only used TK to look at all of the Real Wedding pictures to get ideas. I had so many "wtf" thoughts while looking through some of those, and I know those are the ones that get picked by the editors because they're "perfect".

I'd love to see slideshows of Really Real Weddings... the ones with a hunter orange and camo cake with a ball-and-chain cake topper.
• What kind of doctor is your H, Mica?  I know I know this, but I'm drawing a blank.

I am an elitist! I grow my own arugula and I want to buy a Volvo station wagon.

But it's only because it's arugula.  If it was spinach or romaine or something, you'd just be a hippie, not an elitist.

MrsJ, but it was 92 and humid this afternoon, so are you SURE you want it?

• H is a psychiatrist.

I'm crazy judgy.  That's probably why OOT and I get along so well.
• I actually thought of you today, Anna.  One of my client's parents have a sweet hobby farm and they were telling me today that they're on a 10 year plan to become completely self sustaining.  They collect rain water to irrigate their gardens and everything.

• Ok, I thought he was, Mica, but for some reason I was questioning myself.

One of the reasons I married H is because I'd never dated a guy before him where we could sit and judge the shiiit out of people together.  Good reason, eh?

• I wish Tallahassee wasn't so far away, Anna.  I grow thyme, rosemary, sage and basil (and I'm working on chives, rosemary and alpine strawberries) and would love to swap some homegrown stuff with you.
• My strawberry plants gave me 4 glorious, tiny, perfectly ripe strawberries today.  I ate them all and didn't save any for H.

<div>That's one of our favorite hobbies as well.  The people at the table next to us at dinner tonight were giving us the dirtiest looks as we talked about how shittily people who walked by were dressed. </div>
• J, that's one of the reasons why H and I get along so well.  We have the same strong opinions that we can only share with each other.
• Aw, I want to have a farm so bad. I think H is finally coming around to the idea.

And I do grow romaine and spinach too so I guess I am just an elite hippy.

Mica, I have alpine strawberries too and they are doing awesome! I guess the strawberry capital of the world isn't in Florida for nothing.

• Alpine strawberries are heavenly, but I strongly suspect that they will not grow successfully in FL.
• Interesting, maybe the tide will turn on the mocking. People seem to be in favor of it in here. I got the distinct impression it was universally frowned upon nowadays.
In Response to Re: Good Evening :  How's the bass playing going? Did you get the fireplace finished?
Posted by mrs.jesse
Unfortunately, I've had to take a little break on the bass playing. I seem to have developed a case of carpal tunnel or something. Getting numbness and tinglies in my left hand and arm. The first thing I gotta do is see a doctor about this poison ivy/rash that won't quit, then to a doc about the hand/arm problems.

The fireplace is getting there - the brick painting part is finished but I still need to clean up the edges on the wall and sand/prime/paint the shelf.
• Huh.  Maybe I should keep on trying.
• My dad got a plot of land at a neighbor's hobby farm this year.  They're all planting and growing together and they're going to share stuff and sell stuff, and they're not charging him or anything.  He planted freaking 200 garlic plants.  He's nuts, but he loves his gardens.  And I love when I visit and get to take home a bunch of fresh stuff, because I kill most plants.

• Well, I think mine are alpine. They are small anyway. But really, they are thriving more than anything else they have. And we only get one or two berries at a time, but they are delicious.
Wriigley, I think the wedding we are attending next weekend may fall into your "really real weddings" category. No camo, but their ceremony is being held in a bar (whatever), and their reception is also there. At 9 o'clock, the bar opens to the public, in the middle of their reception.
