How is/was your Saturday?

Re: How is/was your Saturday?

  • No additional details other than that they found him in his apartment. SO FREAKING SAD. I don't really like hockey, but he was fun to watch.

    And poor Harmon Killebrew.

It's rough all up in the Minnesnowta.

  • Oh aleigh, I am so sorry to hear about your kitty. I just read the rest of this thread. ((((HUGS))))) And a little retail therapy is always good.

Yeah they said it would be a few weeks until they knew the results of the autopsy/cause of death. I am guessing some kind of drug overdose though, because the concept of some sort of natural death is pretty rare at his age and he had to be in pretty good shape to be a hockey player. SO SAD. I like hockey a lot though I don't get as rabid about it as I do for the Twins. My brothers are HUGE Wild fans and I think my brother may have even shed a few tears yesterday about it. And he's not a crier.

  • Pretty dress.
H wants to get his heart checked to see if it is too big because of all the deaths lately in sports.
  • As soon as I saw it I guessed drug OD as well, but it could have been some kind of aneurysm too. A friend of mine just recently had a situation where her friend's extremely healthy husband died in a way similar. Just collapsed.
    image
  • ANDPLUSALSO, I've met a couple who are photographers here in the cities and they told me this whole story about a chance meeting with Harmon and he ended up inviting them to tour Target Field (before it opened for the first game ever) and took photos with him and his family and he was just like SO NICE to them and they made him this GORGEOUS photo album of him posing around Target Field and with his family at Target Field and all this stuff... I guess he is like the nicest man, ever ever ever.

Well that is really tragic, :( Yeah, I mean I know it is totally possible for it to happen, but I still lean toward the drug thing right away.

  • I watched FI run his 5k in 28:45 so I am super proud.

We then went to the mall and purchased:
shapeware, bra, earrings and necklace, 3 shirts and a pair of pants (for him), rehearsal dinner dress, rehearsal dinner shoes, new camera, and two blueray players.

    FML.

  • I'm out of here ladies..  Apparently I'm going out.   DH and his friend make plans without telling me and friend's FI.   Luckily friend's FI and I are laid-back and just go with the flow.

I'm sure I will talk to you all later.

What differentiates an average host and a great host is anticipating unexpressed needs and wants of their guests.  Just because the want/need is not expressed, doesn't mean it wouldn't be appreciated.
  • Lynda - have fun and enjoy the time with your DH! I am sure it will do you some good :)
  • Yeah, Musical, I jump the drug thing too. It just seems to happen that way 99% of the time in situations like this. I would like to be proven wrong though as awful as that sounds.

Yeah, me too. Not like I wanted him to die from a random health issue, but the drug thing just makes it so much worse since I mean, it is obviously preventable.

That is awesome! I think I wouldn't be able to move after running that much. I am pooped after 2.5 miles.

And yay for the new things. You only live and get married once, so I am sure it will all be paid off soon.

I gotta be honest, at first I was like "Why does ggirl know/care about boogard?" haha then realized the NY location should have tipped me off. I sometimes forget he wasn't actually playing for the Wild anymore.

Buffalo right? An friend of mine in college grew up in Buffalo and came to mn for school. The one thing we'd pretend fight about was hockey teams & baseball. ;)
    image
  • I don't PRETEND fight about baseball.

    Ever.

    Musical.

Did I tell you my mom's boyfriend bought us tickets for the Twins/Yankee game in August?

Every Yankee fan that leaves that stadium alive should thank me.

Well, it was mainly because he was a Mets fan not a Yankees fan. So, less serious of a fight. ;)

I AM JEALOUS. I secretly love getting really worked up at those games. No other time am I that vulgar. I mean, you didn't see that side of me at the shouthouse since no vulgarity was needed---but Fish, if we went to a Yankee/Twins game together, Target Field might implode.

  • Have fun lynda!!!

Ya'll, since Fishy AWed her friend's dress (which is gorg!), can I AW mine? I just put the pictures on my 'puter.

haha it is so funny because I have this side of me that likes to be really super nice, and then this little pocket that gets exposed every now and then that is kinda scary. It is mainly reserved for Yankees/Yankee fans, and animal abusers/child abusers/people who just kinda suck.

BUT I LOVE YOU FISHY! I would love to be at a yankee/twins game with you, for reals.

BREE YOU ARE SO FREAKING PRETTY IN THAT DRESS HOLY CRAP!!!! It is so flattering on you and look at your itty bitty waist! I love it.

  • I have yet to AW my dress here. I haven't taken a photo in it yet, well at least not one that does it any justice. I want to take pictures in it at my grandma's house because she has big windows with lots of light.
