Serious question - has anyone ever heard someone in their 30s say "the s word"? Because I have not.
Ya know, I am kind of a dork like that, lol. I don't phrase it like that, but even when I use mild swear words in my posts, I'll asterisk some of the letters. Like this, s**t. I think it stems back to childhood guilt if I used a swear word, lol.
I wish the OP well, but it does seem like she's lived a fragile and sheltered life. I don't know if she's lived with her parents her whole adult life. But, if so, that's going to be a major adjustment and I hope she is ready for it.
do! I don't like cursing, and while I have occasionally let the occasional curse slip out of my mouth in moments of extreme frustration, I generally don't curse at all myself. My H does slightly more, but he also disagrees with cursing and is trying to be better about it as our daughter is learning to talk.
So if we're talking alone, daughter in bed or whatever, about our language use or whatever, I will definitely say things like "don't use that word," or "we can't say the s/f/d/whatever word in front of our kids" even though no one is around to hear it. Most of our families are also anti-cursing so we will also describe curse words as "f/d/c/s word" or "blankety-blank" or "asterisk, ampersand, plus sign, at sign" in place of actually saying the word when describing an interaction or telling a story.
Funny story: One reason I try to reign it in is about 2 years ago Chiquita walked up to MIL and said, "Nonni you know, sometimes.....my mom says Goddammit."
There's nothing like your kid tattling to your husband's mom.
Re: My dad is unable to dance with me at our wedding how do I still include him?
