I usually wear some type of cocktail dress and heels. I wore tights to a wedding last November with booties with a pretty short (short for me) dress.

The pictures you posted didn't seem too short for most people (like the models). My booty and hips would never work in a dress that tight and short. Nope, not going to happen.

I know we're all super judge-y about certain things and it is human nature to judge people based on appearances, but why? Why is this something that even matters? Unless they are showing their nipples or vagina, so what? I wouldn't wear certain "scandalous" things but so what if some people do? Does someone's clothing to a wedding somehow tell you how good of a person they are? (This isn't directed to you necessarily, Jenna. We all do it. I do too, I just wish we didn't, that's all).

I can't get naked in public without it being an "incident" so how the fuck am I supposed to cool off because you refuse to let me run the AC at anything below 80 because your delicate ass is freezing.
I'm Team Permanently-Cold, but honestly it is wayyy easier on everyone for me to put on more clothes than it is for Team Perma-Hot people to take clothes off.

  • I think I'm going to get a space heater for my desk in the lab.  The Thermostat is at 72 and my hands and nose are like ice.

I am always freezing, so count me on the cardigan list. Even if I don't actually wear it, I always have one. I have also worn tights to a wedding!

I try and wear something with sleeves if I think it will even be remotely cold.

A long-sleeved cocktail dress is a lot more reasonable to me than a cardigan at a formal event. I don't think people should suffer and be cold, but cardigans are super casual to me, and blazers are too business-y. IDK.

  • I'm surprised that so many people talk about being cold at weddings. For me at least, it's always been a room packed with 100+ people, dancing, and drinking wine. If anything, I'd be peeling OFF layers.

Now my office, on the other hand, is like the polar tundra.

I should add that I don't think I have been to any event that could even be considered remotely "super formal" in YEARS. I would not wear a cardigan to those. I like wraps.

A few years ago I was wearing a super awesome sequin dress to a fancy holiday party with H and I needed a black wrap- 5 bucks on the sidewalk in NYC!!

I dunno but I can only put on so many layers before I have to just wear a coat at work. . . and then my hands and nose are still cold.  And then I have to change to go home because it's too hot outside for all the layers.

The hospital is too fucking cold.  I'm sick of being cold at work all.year.long.  It's never comfortable.

  • I have a space heater under my desk as well.  I pretty much run it all year.  My feet are always cold, even in the dead of summer.

The only bad thing is that sometimes I get halfway home and then freak out that I forgot to turn it off.  So I drive back to the office only to see that I did, in fact, turn it off.  I just don't want to be the reason that my office building burns down.

I've only been to one "formal" wedding where long dresses were the expectation, but still anything cocktail dress or higher is too formal to me for a cardigan.

Yep I have a bunch of cute work-appropriate dresses and skirts that I've never worn to this office because in the summer it's like 50 degrees in the office, so I have to bundle up, even if it's 105 outside.

In the winter it's like 50 degrees in the office, so I have to bundle up. Layers, layers, layers. I even have to wear gloves at my desk sometimes because my hands turn purple from being so cold.

I get so tired of being so fucking cold every day.

  • To the last wedding I went to I actually wore my NYE dress. Which was a blue little sparkly number that hit about mid-thigh. Maybe a little shorter.

Long dresses just don't happen on me. I'm 5'10" with long legs. It's knee or shorter, or a maxi dress. Which I'm just not into. I like my legs.

I'm also fairly busty so I usually have the cleavage up and out cause why not? I mean I got them for free, I'm always about showing off a good deal.

My biggest thing is that I hate strapless bras, hate them. So I'm always trying to find a dress I can wear a regular bra with.

I figure if it's a dress you'd wear in front of grandma, you can wear it to a wedding.
  • Uh, what? There is absolutely nothing wrong with an LBD at weddings. In fact, it's a pretty sure bet. And I haven't worn tights to a wedding/event since I was like 5. Apparently I am uber-inappropriate.

None of those dresses that you posted strike me as too short (although I tend to wear them longer, but only because I am uncomfortable with my body right now. Otherwise I would totally rock them to a wedding) or in any way inappropriate at all. I'm just going to go ahead and be that asshole and say that the OP feels pretty slut shame-y (in terms of clothing) to me.

Same here!  I have an alarm set on my phone for 10 minutes before we close to remind me to turn it off.

Ooh good idea.  I can't believe I never thought of setting up an outlook reminder or a reminder on my phone for this before.

This is exactly my life. I one time drove to my office in my pajamas at 10PM to make sure I turned it off.

THIS. You can always add, but you can only take away so much!

My SO drives me nuts with this. I'll be in shorts and a tank top and sweating, yet he'll complain he's freezing- well then choose one of the 5 blankets on our couch and shush.

I do this with my straightener at home. I always think I left it on and turn back around. I'm so afraid of my house catching fire and my poor kitties being trapped inside.

My BFF is actually so paranoid about leaving stuff on, she unplugs everything and then takes a picture of it each morning so she can check it later and ease her fear that she left it on.

One Friday my H joked with me that I forgot to turn off my space heater.  Even though I knew I had turned it off I made myself believe that I wasn't sure.  Well being a sub-contractor I am not allowed in my office building without the main contractor being there (I swear my office building is locked up tighter then Fort Knox.  Why?  I have no idea because we really don't do anything that special).  So I had to go all weekend not knowing if I had turned it off.  I literally could not eat one day because I was so worried.  I broke out in hysterical sobs because I had made myself so anxious and worried.  And guess what?  Monday morning I went in and the damn thing had been off the whole freaking time.  H now knows to never joke about that ever again.

No that wasn't my intention. Like I said earlier, I honestly thought that work attire was the same thing as evening attire. So in my mind if it's too short for work it would be too short for weddings. I thought that was reserved for clubs/ bars. But clearly I have just found out that I've been doing eveningwear wrong my entire life lol.

What is there to side eye?  Those are super cute!

    I'm confused. . .
