I also flame those who flamed the IUD thread. Everyone always talks about how this is the internet and people can post what they like but then they pick and choose what they don't want to talk about on here. (this includes sad stories/personal stuff). I mean, it's obvious this board isn't really WR.

eta: Some customers have made comments about the newspaper article about bf and my business where it states we are not married but live together. And i confess that I want to punch them in the face.

I'm beyond irritated with my caterer.  The tasting was mid-April and we still haven't received the final quote....even after several phone calls and e-mails.  WTH??

Good news is we are going to the beach this weekend and the "fun boat" will be making a rare appearance.....so yayyy for the beach, hot summer sun and a cool beer in hand :)

My roommate cancelled Showtime, so I don't get to see any of them.  When we move, I'll have to get it and catch up.

I didn't know Tara was cancelled.  That breaks my heart.  I love that show.

That, Dexter and Nurse Jackie are my favorite shows ever.

I haven't offered congrats because I think it will sound insincere because I'm jealous. My plan (and I know it's stupid) is to just pretend that I don't know for as long as possible. I suck.

I totally understand how you feel. My SIL announced she is pregnant with her 3rd kid...on the same day I went into surgey to find out why I cant get pregnant. I felt horrible for feeling so...truly angry and just jealous. My "congrats" felt very insincere and I felt crappy even plastering on a fake smile. Just remember it will be you announcing your pregnancy some day :)

I flame all the old hags that stare at me like I'm a leper when I go to job interviews.  This includes employees and other candidates.  I was at one on Monday where these 2 older women, neither of which seemed to know what a hairbrush was, were staring me down like I didn't deserve to be there.  I'm 24 and have a college degree, and looked more polished than the both of them.

Right, but you said you were polished when you showed up, not dressed unprofessionally. I get where you're going with this, I just thought it was a wee bit hypocritical to lash out at their hair, etc. when you don't want to be judged by the same criteria. Also, 24 IS young to many companies, so just because someone might not yet be sold on your brand new credentials doesn't necessarily make her an old hag.

LOL I would sure hope not.  I feel like I would have to completely reevaluate my interview if that were true.

  • Also, I judge young women (and old ones for that matter) who have the following hairstyle:
especially when the ponytail is less than 3 inches long and sticks out of the back of your head. It may look all pretty from the front with a headband, but it looks like a rats nest from the back from all the teasing. ANd if the pony is short, it looks like you forgot to finish fixing your hair. Seriously, buy another mirror and take a peek back there before you walk out of your house.

Also, it makes your head look misshapen (conehead anyone?), and that's just not pretty on anyone.

FTR. I see young people with this hairstyle all the time, dressed up (in church, job interviews, college tours) and I can't help but want to hand them a mirror and a comb.

Maybe I worded it a little bit strangely, I'll admit that.  I know I was wearing a very well fitted suit and heels and had my hair and makeup looking neat but not overdone.  This was an entry level position so my brand new credentials don't necessarily hurt me, either.  I just mentioned the 2 ladies' hair because I don't see the point in wearing a suit but having your hair look like you just rolled out of bed and didn't attempt to touch it.
I confess that I'm kind of glad we gave the dog back to her original owner. She was a wonderful dog, but besides the fact that I'm apparently allergic to dogs, H and I realized that we just aren't pet owners. So soon after the wedding, H and I felt very disconnected from each other. He had to get up early and go to bed early to deal with the dog before work, and I had the opposite schedule. Plus, we just didn't feel connected to Rox. Maybe in a few years, we will feel comfortable getting a dog, but not right now.  I feel bad, but for a little bit, it had me questioning whether or not we're ready for kids. I know it's totally different, though, so I'm not going to question myself anymore. There is an emotional bond I would have with my child, especially after carrying them for so long.
    Posted by SEWF
I agree about dogs and I get where you're coming from. We have cats. Cats are relatively easy (even though they wake us up at 5am for breakfast). I'm afraid a dog will be too much work. And that I won't love it enough to justify it and I'll end up resenting the work because I'm not a super "dog person." (it has to be certain breeds, I think) Then I feel awful, like why wouldn't I love an animal? How will I ever be ready for kids? But yeah, I don't think I'm ready for a dog. I have too much going on. But then... kids add like 17 hours of work to your day, so... Ugh.
