  • I have a question for you guys. My mom just sent me a dozen texts telling me I'm getting screwed over by the car place, and to call my stepdad since he knows everything about cars (this is true, to a point). So I call, explain everything, and he says it sounds like the right price for everything that needs done, and knowing what he does about my car, the last time it was taken in, etc.

Then he says he could have saved us most of the labor costs by having him do it. H and I knew this beforehand but chose the auto shop 1) because we need it done now, and my mom lives 2 hours away; 2) it was the only time I could get a ride to and from work; and 3) I'm not comfortable driving on the highway with a truck that randomly stalls and has bad breaks.

So my question, were we stupid to just do the auto shop and pay the extra money? Should we have waited close to 2 weeks until we could drive down to see my stepdad? I know it's too late now, but I'm all bummed out now thinking I was stupid about it.
  • I flame myself.  I have been sick with a migraine for a week.  I was in the ER yesterday to receive fluids and it is still not solving the problem.  I shouldn't be on the computer, but I'm checking work email and I thought I would stop by.  So, yeah, freaking annoying.

    Hugs, Birdie.  <3

[QUOTE]I confess that I thought I was alright with the whole dead dad 15th anniversary thing tomorrow until I listened to a song this morning in my office and the grief hit me like a freight train. Now I've spent the rest of the morning holed up in my office trying to hide from people because I'm an emotional wreck that just need to get in a good cry and I can't because I'm at work. I thought about going out to my car for a bit, but when the flood gates open I usually can't close them. I don't want to come back in red eyed and red faced with my makeup all smeared. Blah. At least we get out at 3:30 today.

    Aw, Imp, i'm sorry. :(

I've been up to my eyeballs in work this week so my big thing is non TK-related. My subconscious seriously hates me.

So apparently I am so very devoted to H to the bottom of my heart and back that even my subconscious won't allow me to have a little fun in my dreams.

Who appears to me last night? Chris Hemsworth aka Thor:

And what does he do in my dream? Take his shirt off and flirt outrageously with me while my friend sits nearby laughing at his attempts. Because what does she know that my subconscious also knows? That in my TOTALLY OUTRAGEOUS WOULD NEVER HAPPEN IN REAL LIFE NOT EVEN IN A MILLION YEARS dream I'm going to say to Thor "Yeah, that's never gonna happen. I'm married." and flash him my ring.

    WWWWWWWHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY??????????????????????????

    *sob*

ETA: Holy giant pic! Sorry. Fixing now.

  • Imp, that sucks.  Weren't you just talking about moving, though?  Maybe it could be a blessing in disguise.  Or was the moving thing not going to be for awhile?  I can't remember.

  • I can understand where you are coming from, Sesh. J's step-grandpa is super good with fixing cars, but lives about an 1 hr and 45 min away. I've gotten stuff fixed before in town and J sometimes says, "Well you know we could bring that to Jerry and he would fix it for free", and its like, yeah, but the hassle of getting it there sometimes just isn't worth it.

I'm still trying to figure ours out. I haven't found an officiant yet and it's kind of stressing me out because every person we've been referred used to be a pastor or a priest. I want them to not have a heart attack if I want to do something different. Those type of officiants just aren't very abundant in these parts though. :(
  • Ugh, that girl is so annoying. I think I flamed her last week but really I have been internally flaming her for a while now.

Since cross board flames are okay I am going to find the one I was saving!! :)

  • I guess your local board isn't much help?
  • Birdie, my officiant was one of midwives in my mom's practice who got ordained online for a friend.  Do you have any friends that could do something like that?

  • I flame my work for having actual WORK for me to do today so I could only read FFF.

But I have a moment now, so... I'm somewhere in the middle of Buddhism/Paganism. I'm a Buddhagan. And I don't sacrifice animals, FWIW. We're probably going to raise our kids attending a Unitarian Church because I really like the fellowship and community aspects, and in most UU churches I've attended no one cares what you do/do not believe in. So long as you're not a serial puppy kicker.
  • Sesh - you made the right call on the car thing -  you need reliable transportation.

Birdie - HUGS!  Hope your day gets better once you are able to have a good cry.

I have a full 3 day weekend and slept in until 1:15 so I'm too happy right now to have flames.

I don't think it was stupid. Sometimes you have to pay more to get things done faster, and this sounds like a situation where it was better to get it fixed now than wait.

  • Nope the Indiana board sucks. It's for the entire state and there are rarely any people from Evansville on there. Well, besides my FMIL ::headdesk::
  • Sorry if I offended you all.  H was expected to marry a Christian.  All of his siblings had the same expectation.  To determine the particular branch of Christianity is silly to me.  I am not implying that all pagans sacrifice animals, or that other religions are not valid.  I'm just saying that MIL asked that H marry a Christian.  If she was going to be picky about the denomination, she should have said so long before he started dating.  I think that it's lame that she criticizes my religion when it's incredibly close to hers.
